Burkino Faso: Army chief Honore Traore takes charge

Burkina Faso military chief Gen Honore Traore has announced he is taking over as head of state.

President Blaise Compaore announced his resignation following violent protests at his attempt to extend his 27-year rule.

Gen Traore read a statement confirming he had taken over "in accordance with the provisions of the constitution".
