Arabella Dorman

Arabella has been to Iraq and Afghanistan as a war artist, both as a military embed and as an individual traveller, to explore what conflict means today, its immediate impact and also its long term repercussions. Throughout these journeys she was very much supported by a personal Christian faith, which also forms the basis of her life, ethics and paintings.


Andrew Wallis

Andrew is the Curator of The Guards’ Museum and one of two men who came up with the idea of creating a garden filled with soil from the 70 fields where guardsmen had fought and died in World War I. The central circular bed that holds the sacred soil has the words of John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields carved around it.

We took Chelsea Pensioners Ray Huggins and Norman Mitchell to see the Garden, just before it was opened by HRH The Queen, on 6th November this year.


Major Rob Hoey

Rob is a serving officer with the Royal Engineers, and a Christian. He believes the core values of the Army are consistent with Christian values – loyalty, integrity and selfless commitment. For him, God is a Sovereign God and, as such, has a plan in life for him.


Bob Gale

Bob was a Signalman in the Navy during the Second World War, serving in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, India, Burma and Malaysia. He received the Distinguished Service Medal for his part in the Normandy Landings in 1944. He read an extract from the poem, ‘For the Fallen’, by Laurence Binyon (1869- 1943)


Lewis Trinder

D Day and Arctic Convoy Veteran Lewis Trinder talked to Bill Turnbull about his experiences in World War 11 and the impact of the First World War on his own family.


Emma Thompson & Samantha Trussler
Emma talks about the difficulties of being a military wife left at home to cope with family life during her husband’s tour of Afghanistan, and Samantha of how she founded the Aldershot Military Wives Choir.
