Syria crisis: Rebels 'will come back' to Qusair

After weeks of savage fighting, the Syrian army has recaptured the strategically important town of Qusair from rebel forces.

A statement from the army calls on the town's citizens to return to their homes, and says the armed forces will be "lenient and forgiving" with those who surrender.

Qusair is close to the border with Lebanon, and was part of an important rebel supply route.

The BBC's Lyse Doucet reports from inside the city.
