People are taking part in May Day rallies across the world, demanding better rights, conditions and pay for workers. Some of the angriest protests are in Spain - against the government's harsh austerity measures.
May Day in Greece is being marked with a 24-hour general strike against the austerity measures there.
The main focus in Bangladesh was on the recent collapse of a building that housed garment factories in a Dhaka suburb, killing more than 400 people. Protesters demanded the death penalty for the building's owner, along with improved safety for workers.
In Istanbul, police fired tear gas and there were dozens of arrests as May Day rallies turned violent - a pattern that has emerged in Turkey in recent years.
