Prof Dai Smith says arts can boost other lessons

Artists, musicians and actors are to head into schools to work directly with disadvantaged pupils as part of a £20m arts strategy.

The five-year plan led by the Arts Council of Wales (ACW) was launched at the Senedd on Tuesday.

A report by ACW chairman Prof Dai Smith said the arts can be used to drive up school standards across all subjects.

Education Minister Huw Lewis said the plan "shows our belief in the importance of the arts and creativity".
