Is there a racial element to abuse by sex gangs?

The ringleaders of a gang which groomed and abused teenage girls in Derby in a campaign of rape and assault spanning two years have been handed indeterminate jail sentences.

Theirs are the latest in a number of prosecutions that are being held up as "evidence" that Asian gangs - specifically men of Pakistani heritage - represent a particular threat to young British girls today which is not being confronted, due to a misguided sense of political correctness.

Helen Brayley from the UCL Jill Dando Institute, Mohammed Shafiq from the Ramadhan Foundation and Douglas Murray from the Centre for Social Cohesion, join Newsnight's Stephanie Flanders to discuss whether there is a racial element to on-street grooming.

Broadcast on Friday 7 January 2011.
