1. It's Morrison. Dr Jason Head said he'd been "listening to the Doors quite a bit during the research". The choice of Barbaturex morrisoni is a play on the late frontman's epithet "the lizard king".
2. It's tennis balls. Inmates' friends and relatives whacked tennis balls containing drugs and contraband into exercise yards. In Russia guards caught a cat trying to climb into a prison with mobile phones strapped to its back.

6. It's an artillery shell. The Year 5 pupil took the 20cm artillery shell into class. The school was evacuated and army bomb disposal teams were called in. They decided the device posed no danger.
7. It's motorway. The pub chain will open its first pub at a motorway service station next to the M40. The pub is expected to be open by Christmas.
