- It's employing his children. Initially he urged parents not to help their children into a job. He later admitted he'd employed his daughters at firms he owned or had a financial interest in.
- It's bras. Schools in Jilin province installed metal detectors to stop listening devices being smuggled in. The detectors mean other items containing metal, including bras, have been banned.
- It's yellow ducks. A giant yellow duck designed by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has spawned many replicas. "The rubber duck was dragged down from its altar and becomes a mere symbol with no personality," said an article in the People's Daily.
- It's an artillery shell. The Year 5 pupil took the 20cm artillery shell into class. The school was evacuated and army bomb disposal teams were called in. They decided the device posed no danger.
- It's motorway. The pub chain will open its first pub at a motorway service station next to the M40. The pub is expected to be open by Christmas.
