  2. Manager reaction

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew said: "I'm a little disappointed that we didn't play better today. I thought Liverpool deserved to win and they had a bit more control than I would've liked.

"It was too easy for them at times and we need to correct that next time we play them. They have great technical players, we chased as hard as possible but we came up against a team that we need to learn from."

  3. SUNDAY'S SELECTION

Plenty more FA Cup action for you all to enjoy on Sunday.

    Here's the list:

Aston Villa v Leicester City - 12:30 LIVE ON BBC ONE

  4. Manager reaction

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool lost 3-1 at Crystal Palace on 23 November and Reds' manager Brendan Rodgers felt that game may be a turning point in their season.

"It wasn't a good feeling the last time we were here in terms of our performance level," said Rodgers. "That was a real adverse moment for us and from that the team has got better. It was a really good win against a tough team today, but I thought we deserved the win.

"We started slowly but once we scored we took control. There's a great resilience and the team are functioning really well.

"Mario Balotelli has quality and he has impacted on the two games this week really well."

Bola Akinola: With Raheem Sterling back in this team, Liverpool should be favourites! Great run of form.

Luke Baker: Tim Sherwood to bring FA Cup glory to Aston Villa! I can dream right?

Mark, Worcester: With the teams that are left in the FA Cup I fancy some European football next season for Blackburn!

  6. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew calls the chance Dwight Gayle had to make it 2-0 'the pivotal moment' in the game.

Simon Mignolet made an excellent save with his legs, and in the second half Gayle was kept very quiet by Liverpool.

Full reaction from both camps to come.

    "Sherwood is a gamble"

    606 phone-in

    BBC Radio 5 live

    Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood

Over on BBC Radio 5 live, 606 is in full swing. Robbie Savage and Darren Fletcher are taking your calls and you can have your say.

Robbie says: "Tim Sherwood was the right choice for Aston Villa. There weren't many strong contenders."

Andy, an Aston Villa fan, says: "I don't know about Sherwood, he's a gamble. I would've preferred Jurgen Klinsmann or Glenn Hoddle."

Paul, a Blackburn fan, says: "We need to prioritise the FA Cup over the league."

  8. Post update

    West Brom 4-0 West Ham

    West Brom

Record signing Brown Ideye scored twice as resurgent West Brom thumped West Ham to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2008.

    West Brom boss Tony Pulis:

"We mustn't get carried away. It was a good performance, we're very pleased, but there's still a long way to go in the league and obviously we need a little but of luck in the next draw.

"Things went our way and I'm really pleased for the players and, scoring four goals, all the punters who came to watch."

    West Ham manager Sam Allardyce:

"I would say it was probably coming based on what we've had to cope with over the last few weeks and I think it told on us today, there's no doubt about that.

"I have to give West Brom a lot of credit - they were very good, particularly the front two."

  9. Post update

    Derby 1-2 Reading

    Yakubu

Yakubu came off the bench to score his first goal for Reading and secure an FA Cup fifth-round victory at Derby.

    Derby manager Steve McClaren:

"We went for the win, we didn't want a replay. The quality of football, even with 10 men, was great and that was the important thing."

    Reading boss Steve Clarke:

"We knew what we were getting with Yakubu . He's a goalscorer and when he goes through one against one you expect him to sure.

"He's very good at doing the business in that sort of situation and that makes him a great asset."

  10. Post update

    Blackburn 4-1 Stoke

    Blackburn

Josh King's hat-trick helped Blackburn shock 10-man Premier League side Stoke and reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

    Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer:

"It was a hell of a cup tie. We have immense pride for the supporters and it is a terrific result for the club.

"We were extremely disappointed to concede a soft goal but the lads bounced back from that.

"We will enjoy tonight but I said to the players, we have to focus on Cardiff for our next game. We would like another home draw but we will take each game as it comes."

    Stoke manager Mark Hughes:

"We were well beaten today, credit to Blackburn, they put the ball in good area and used the threats they had up front. We didn't deal with it all afternoon, we got our noses in front without really dictating Blackburn. We allowed them to get back into the game."

  11. Post update

We are still waiting for further reaction from Selhurst Park - I shall bring you it all as we get it. But for now, here's a quick recap on the day's FA Cup headlines:

JavelBleach: Favourites? What odds would I get on the mighty, historic Preston North End right now? And on Tuesday?

Mo, Manchester: How are Manchester United favourites? Only thing that saved them from defeat against us was our finishing. Momentum and confidence goes a long way and I think we'll make the final now (scared about Arsenal though to be honest).

  13. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers has to stop to take six photos with several people in the crowd and Crystal Palace employees on his way back into the bowels of Selhurst Park. The smile on his face is a clear message throughout. He wouldn't be drawn on whether his side are now favourites.

  14. Manager reaction

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers on BT Sport: "After we scored I thought we were very good. We had 15 efforts on goal in the first half but we weren't aggressive enough.

"I wanted us to keep the width on the pitch, we changed it around at half-time and it worked well for us.

"Daniel Sturridge is a natural goalscorer. The worry is that his team-mates are joining in with his dancing!"

  15. Join the debate at #bbcfacup

Latex Zebra: Liverpool favourites? With the current holders (who knocked a stronger Liverpool out last year) and Man Utd still in, no.

Fissuh H Kelelom: I think Manchester United are stronger favourites for the FA Cup than Liverpool. Man United v Liverpool final would be nice though...

Zac Quinn: Selhurst Park hoodoo overcome and now 90 minutes from Wembley, nicely done.

  16. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Liverpool were very sensible in the last minutes. They were relatively comfortable. Simon Mignolet didn't have to pull them out of the fire with any great saves. I just feel Crystal Palace have been a little bit lightweight. They didn't produce many forceful moments of energy or passion, and Liverpool deserved the win. They were the better team overall, and it looks as though they will now have a great chance of a Wembley final."

  17. THE LAST EIGHT

Here is who's left in the FA Cup:

    West Brom

    Reading

    Blackburn Rovers

    Liverpool

    Aston Villa or Leicester

    Bradford City or Sunderland

    Arsenal or Middlesbrough

    Preseton or Manchester United

  18. FULL-TIME

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool are into the last eight, with a first win at Selhurst Park in 18 years.

    Favourites for the Cup?

  19. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

"You'll Never Walk Alone" rings out from the stands, Liverpool moments away from closing this one out after a fine second-half display. Crystal Palace will be very disappointed with their second 45 minutes.

  20. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Emre Can disputed it but he was definitely holding for the free-kick. A poor effort from Dwight Gayle though. He has had to defend more than he would like to today, as a striker."

  21. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Dwight Gayle takes it - he goes for goal and blasts it over! Head in hands from Gayle. A waste.

  22. INJURY TIME

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    FIVE MINUTES added on...

Crystal Palace win a free-kick. Good spot on the left wing this. Got to be a good ball in...

  23. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Here we go - into the last minute. Rickie Lambert wins a corner, Liverpool will keep it in the corner...

  24. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Will we have more late drama from Dwight Gayle and co? Fraizer Campbell is close to meeting Joel Ward's cross from the right - but he can't get there.

  25. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Liverpool are making Crystal Palace do all the running now. They are using the width of the pitch very well, forcing Palace to work hard to close them down. It's very hard work to have to chase the ball, especially at this stage of the game."

  26. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

You're in! Jordan Henderson strips the ball from a dawdling Joe Ledley in side his own area, Henderson waits, he tries to pick out Mario Balotelli for a tap-in but Scott Dann is across to clear his lines.

    That would have killed it.

  27. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

What they have, they hold. Liverpool hold it very nicely, but they are not being pressured particularly hard by a flat Crystal Palace. Dwight Gayle has been anonymous in this second half.

  29. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

    Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli

"What we have, we hold. That is Liverpool at the moment and I can fully understand that. If they get through this game they are only one match away from Wembley, and that's another thing for Brendan Rodgers to put on his CV. But Crystal Palace have only lost one of seven matches since Alan Pardew took over."

  30. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Jordan Henderson gets through some yards in a game and here he is again, overlapping the overlap to pick the ball up on the right wing, he swings in a cracking early cross to but Julian Speroni is alive to it and beats it away from in front of Rickie Lambert.

  31. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge's night is done, he comes off to a few jeers as Rickie Lambert takes his place. The final change of the game sees Dejan Lovren on in place of Philippe Coutinho.

Not like for like. Very much not.

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Harry Kane and Daniel Sturridge up front for England anyone? (see 53 mins)

Mark, London: Sturridge and Kane would be deadly, and a partnership for the long-term! Sturridge will stretch defences and Kane will have the extra space to do 'his thing'. Come on Roy, do the right thing!

Dan, Bedford: Kane's strength over Sturridge is his ability to use two feet, and he brings other players into the game in a way that only Wayne Rooney seems to do. Sturridge is a great finisher in his own right but his inability to be flexible in his shooting will limit him progressing any further.

  35. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

There is a disappointing lack of urgency about this game in the closing stages. What's the opposite of 'a proper cup tie?'

A fraudulent cup tie? Liverpool just look comfortable and Palace look content enough to go along with it. Can they raise it?

  36. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Liverpool are having a spell of controlled possession which is wise. It just eases the pressure. If the away side are disciplined from here they should be able to get through this game."

  37. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno dance

That celebratory dance. Yes. I didn't want to mention it, but Daniel Sturridge performed it in duet with Alberto Moreno after his goal.

What's wrong with a handshake and a swift walk back to the centre-circle?

"I do like Daniel Sturridge. I like his confidence, his movement, his finishing, his calmness. I could, however, live without the dance."

  39. PENALTY APPEAL

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

It has been an afternoon of handball appeals, they have come thick and fast, and here's another as Alberto Moreno's arm is hit by the bouncing ball. Again, there is nothing given. Alan Pardew disagrees with that call. In the strongest terms.

  42. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Now we will see if Crystal Palace are capable of changing the way they play, spurred on by the home crowd. The introduction of Jason Puncheon has added a little bit more creativity to the side, and Alan Pardew has certainly made his attacking intentions clear. Palace have to throw caution to the wind now."

  43. CLOSE!

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Mamadou Sakho is off after more treatment and in his absence Liverpool look noticeably shaky again at the back. Simon Mignolet punches the ball out to the edge of the box, it's flashed back across goal and deflects just past the post. A telling touch there and it's 2-2.

  45. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Mamadaou Sakho is down in the penalty area, looks in real pain. It was an off-the-ball incident.

A clash of heads with Yannick Bolasie, that's what it was. He is having some treatment.

  46. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Adam Lallana with a classic example of following the ball up. If the goalkeeper is going to parry it you want to be the first to the rebound and Lallana was one of four Liverpool players following in at a rate of knots. The manager on the touchline celebrates with his coaching staff and Mario Balotelli? He's smiling."

  47. GOAL

Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool - Adam Lallana

Adam Lallana celebrates putting Liverpool in front

A fine turnaround from Liverpool. Brendan's half-time words and change have done the trick as Mario Balotelli crashes a 20-yard free-kick through the wall, Julian Speroni can't hold it and Adam Lallana is first man there and steers home. He took that very well, the ball was travelling at a rate of knots.

  49. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool

Adam Lallana is playing as the widest wide right you could imagine in the second half. Liverpool really stretching the pitch, with Mario Balotelli up front with Daniel Sturridge. Expansive, but it could prove expensive. There must be space to exploit by the pace of the Palace counter?

  50. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge has been on the fringes of the game but one chance, one goal. He finished that brilliantly.

If you had to pick an England XI to play tomorrow - on form and on fitness - would you have Sturridge and Harry Kane up front?

  51. GREAT SAVE!

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool's momentum instantly flips, as Palace go close to a second goal. Liverpool just can't defend corners at the moment, making a hash of doing so again and Dwight Gayle thrashes in a low shot which Simon Mignolet does well to turn clear.

  52. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

    Daniel Sturridge scores

"A brilliant volley. Daniel Sturridge is expert at hitting those on his left foot as they come over his shoulder. He stole in behind the Palace defence and thrust the ball home. This will make for a better game. Crystal Palace have to come out of their shell now."

  53. GOAL

Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool - Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge celebrates his equaliser for Liverpool

Liverpool's half-time tweaks bear fruit. It's been a positive few minutes and they level when Daniel Sturridge runs on to a cute chip over the top by Jordan Henderson, it's on his left foot and he doesn't try and smash it, but hits it true, through the legs of Julian Speroni and into the net.

    Well taken.

  54. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Jason Puncheon whacked it over the bar, but it's better from Palace. They have wonderful support in this stadium and the fans will get behind their team - they understand the tactics of the opening 45 minutes. It was one-way traffic in the first half, will be there a bit more ebb and flow in this?"

  55. CLOSE!

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Great chance for Jason Puncheon, 20 seconds after he came on! Yannick Bolasie picks him out from the right, Puncheon has a shot from 20 yards but he can't keep it down!

  56. KICK-OFF

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Back under way.

  57. SUBSTITUTION

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

  58. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers

I'm not sure Brendan Rodgers really does 'angry' but he doesn't look too impressed as he emerges for the second half. More urgency? More tempo? Mario Balotelli?

  59. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Simon Mignolet's save to keep out Dwight Gayle's effort just before the break could well be crucial. I've just seen it back and the Belgian did superbly to stretch and kick it clear. A 2-0 lead at the break would have been massive for the hosts.

  61. Problems at the back?

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool have now kept only three clean sheets in their last 20 FA Cup games. Is that an area they need to strengthen in the summer?

  62. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"I would say its been an average first half, but it's been quite enjoyable seeing Liverpool try to create chances against the massed ranks of the Crystal Palace defence. There are thoughts for both sides at the break. Can Palace cause more problems for Liverpool in the second half? Or will Liverpool continue to have the lion's share of possession?"

  63. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

So Crystal Palace are 45 minutes away from an FA Cup quarter-final. Can Liverpool turn this around after the break? They have had enough ball to win two games, but there were signs at the end there that their tempers were beginning to unravel...

  64. HALF-TIME

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Simon Brotherton

    Match of the Day commentator

"An FA Cup tie finely poised thanks to Simon Mignolet's late first-half save to deny Crystal Palace a second goal. Pape Souare, on his debut, was living dangerously with a challenge on Daniel Sturridge in the penalty area, but it is Palace who lead with a goal from Fraizer Campbell."

  65. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Crystal Palace have created chances but so far there has been very little controlled passing from the home side. They are defending resolutely though - determined, dogged defensive work.

"Alan Pardew is kicking every ball in the technical area. He will be more than happy to reach half-time in front, but I do think Palace look a little bit vulnerable down the left-hand side, where Daniel Sturridge has found space a few times."

  68. GREAT SAVE!

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Dwight Gayle for 2-0... no! Gayle should score, he's in behind the static Liverpool defence again but all credit to Simon Mignolet, out quickly and making himself really big to save with his left ankle. A big moment.

  69. CLOSE!

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

More of what Lazar Markovic is all about as he picks the ball up on the right, drives inside, commits two defenders, beats another - but then shoots over from 20 yards on his left foot. He's a dangerman but without enough end product right now.

  70. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool have completed more than double the amount of passes as Palace, but for all their play they've only really put one quality move together, when Adam Lallana had a shot well saved. Palace are ahead and happy to sit back and hit on the break.

Great save - and then Daniel Sturridge wants a penalty as he collects a bouncing ball - no dice!

Anonymous: "As a neutral, it's disgraceful how Palace have evidently over-watered the pitch. Have they got longer studs than the Liverpool players?! It's ruining the game and if any goals are caused by or prevented by slippages, surely it's a form of cheating?"

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Martin Skrtel must have nightmares about Dwight Gayle. Gayle tormented him to score twice in that classic 3-3 draw at the back end of last season, has already mugged him in the build-up to Palace's goal tonight and now gets past him again, skinning him inside the box. He's such a livewire.

  79. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Crystal Palace need a little breather here. Liverpool are applying the pressure. The home side need to get some passing passages together because although they've got the cushion they haven't established any rhythm yet. This is a big challenge for Jordan Henderson playing in the central midfield position for Liverpool, the position Steve Gerrard has filled for years."

  80. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

A tremendous block from Scott Dann keeps out Philippe Coutinho's blaster, Joel Ward then controls the ball between his chest and the floor, and somehow manages to roll away from it without handballing it. Quite brilliant from the Eagles defender.

  81. GREAT SAVE!

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Plenty of empty seats behind the goal which Liverpool are attacking - and attack they do. Patient build-up, left to right and back again, they pass up a shooting chance, and again, but then burst into life.

Jordan Henderson into Adam Lallana, great one-touch stuff, and Lallana's drive is turned away by Julian Speroni. Really fine play from Liverpool.

  82. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

Palace new boy Pape Souare clatters into Jordan Henderson with his knee, a really high challenge, and is lucky not to be booked. An ugly challenge. Can Liverpool find a route back into the game?

  83. Post update

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"A great run by Dwight Gayle, and it was a rather anaemic punch by Simon Mignolet. He got in a bit of a mess and Fraizer Campbell, following up, thrust the ball into the net on his right foot, on the rebound. Just earlier the home fans seemed to sense something was going to happen. They raised the noise levels, and it's Palace who have been asking the questions."

  84. GOAL

Crystal Palace 1-0 Liverpool - Fraizer Campbell

    Dwight Gayle celebrates

That worked like a dream! Palace lead and it's defensive disarray for Liverpool. Martin Skrtel dithers with a high ball in behind, his header is weak and Dwight Gaye reads it. Gayle is brave to go in for the header with Simon Mignolet. Mignolet bats it down and there is Fraizer Campbell, right on cue, to sweep home from six yards out.

    The Palace fans erupt.

  88. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool have had 78% of the ball so far. Utterly dominant - yet it's Palace who have had the one break of note. Is that the pattern set for the game?

  89. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Liverpool

It's as if David Pleat has a crystal ball. Palace have their first counter which frees Dwight Gayle down the left, pace to burn, but his cross is well cut out by Martin Skrtel. In fact, it bounced up off his foot and on to his arm.

    Good defending though.

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

"Crystal Palace look prepared to sit off Liverpool when the away side work the ball across the back. Liverpool look quite composed, but Palace won't press too early and when they do get their chance on the counter, the home side have the pace of Dwight Gayle and Yannick Bolasie going forward."

  92. PENALTY APPEAL

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Liverpool

Palace defender Pape Souare is lucky to get away with the ball striking him on the hand as Lazar Markovic flicked it on, Liverpool continue their bright start.

  93. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool seeing plenty of early ball, Jordan Henderson to the fore. The men in yellow construct a neat passing move together which ends with Daniel Sturridge miscuing a volley wide. Difficult height for him to strike.

  94. Manager reaction

    Blackburn 4-1 Stoke

    Mark Hughes looks on

Stoke boss Mark Hughes: "We were well beaten today, credit to Blackburn, they put the ball in good areas and used the threats they had up front. We didn't deal with it all afternoon, we got our noses in front without really dictating Blackburn. We allowed them to get back into the game.

    "Blackburn deserved to go through.

"For the red card, there was a little bit of contact, I have seen them given, I have seen then not given. If you don't do the fundamentals, you are liable to get punished. Absolutely no complaint, we didn't deserve anything today.

"I couldn't emphasise the point enough in the lead up to the cup games. We wanted to progress. We need to get our heads down this week and not let our season peter out."

  95. Post update

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Liverpool

    Former Tottenham manager David Pleat

  96. Post update

The Crystal Palace fans are right up there when it comes to atmosphere and they've gone the extra mile again today, unfurling a huge banner of Alan Pardew in that 1990 FA Cup semi-final. He's rarely looked better.

    Here come the players...

  101. 'We were never going to win the FA Cup'

    Derby County 1-2 Reading

Derby manager Steve McClaren: "We went for the win, we didn't want a replay and we very nearly got the win. The quality of football, even with 10 men, was great and that was the important thing, keeping that up.

"We're not going to win the FA Cup so it was all about performance and keeping our style.

"We could have held for a draw but we didn't want to do that, we wanted to blow the game open and we almost pulled it off.

"I couldn't argue with Stephen Warnock's two yellow cards. He wanted to prove something, he wanted to show something, it gave us a mountain to climb."

Pards is back on the sidelines this evening of course, and he won't wan to know that Palace have only won six of their last 29 matches in the FA Cup against top flight opposition.

    A stinker of a record.

  106. League One round-up

    Leyton Orient

Fergie time? Pah. It has nothing on this. Leyton Orient snatched a winner at Chesterfield in the ELEVENTH minute of stoppage time, Dean Cox with the goal.

A big win for Orient, who are deep in relegation bother. They are 23rd, but are three points off safety.

At the top of League One, the top three all lost. Leaders Bristol City losing 3-1 at home to Sheffield United, Swindon losing by the same scoreline at Scunthorpe and MK Dons slumping to a 4-2 defeat to Gillingham.

"Crystal Palace will be quietly confident given the home record they have against Liverpool. They drew 3-3 last season, which everybody says cost Liverpool the Premier League title, and the 3-1 win at Selhurst Park earlier this season will give them so much confidence. One of my favourite players this season so far has been Yannick Bolasie. Every time he gets the ball he takes people on and as Palace counter they could cause Liverpool real problems because they lack pace."

Crystal Palace v Liverpool (17:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson

    BBC Sport football analyst

"Alan Pardew has had an outstanding start as Crystal Palace manager but Liverpool's season has also changed completely in recent weeks. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has established a system that works with the players they have got, plus they have got competition for places and Daniel Sturridge is back fit.

"Jordon Ibe's emergence is a bonus too - he has come through and has done extremely well, and it is like having a new signing. Liverpool have pace, youth, lots of different attacking options and a nice balance to their side. I think their FA Cup run is going to continue."

  111. Post update

    Blackburn 4-1 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

    Tom Cairney celebrates at full-time

"This was a terrific cup tie from start to finish. Stoke got off to great start, then we all sat back waiting for the second but it didn't happen. Blackburn settled down and in the end, Josh King had too much pace. He was excellent and they deserve their win.

"Blackburn had confidence from the way they beat Swansea. In the second half, the two central defenders settled down and they handled everything well. But this will always be remembered as Josh King's game."

  112. Championship round-up

Bournemouth are top of the Championship after drawing 1-1 with Huddersfield but the real story in that division is at the bottom of the table where a topsy-turvy encounter between Blackpool and Nottingham Forest has ended 4-4.

Hosts Blackpool led 2-0, Forest fought back to 2-2, twice went ahead but a last-minute equaliser has earned battling Blackpool a point. The home side also had a player sent off, and were later down to nine men after an injury and using all their subs.

"Can we play you on the beach" was the chant from Forest fans, the terrible state of the pitch meaning both sides had to abandon a passing game and go direct. Crazy game.

Elsewhere, Watford scored a last-minute winner to beat Bolton 4-3 while Ipswich won 2-1 at Fulham. Finally, Norwich beat Wolves 2-0, Leeds edged Millwall 1-0, Charlton beat Brentford 3-0 and Sheffield Wednesday's game against Brighton ended goalless.

Daniel Sturridge is back, and he is a little bit rusty but because of his movement alone he could have had a hat-trick in the first half against Tottenham. Crystal Palace are a great counter-attacking side and there will be a red hot atmosphere at Selhurst Park but I just think Liverpool are riding the crest of a wave right now. Crystal Palace make five changes to the side that drew with Newcastle in their last game. Defender Pape Souare makes his debut for the club while Scott Dann, Yannick Bolasie, Dwight Gayle and Fraizer Campbell all come in.

Mario Balotelli's goalscoring heroics against Tottenham have not earned him a place in the starting XI for Liverpool. He is on the bench, with Daniel Sturridge leading the line. Instead, Brendan Rodgers' two changes sees Joe Allen and Adam Lallana make starts.

Crystal Palace XI: Speroni, Kelly, Dann, Hangeland, Souare, Bolasie, Ledley, Ward, Gayle, Chamakh, Campbell.

They've settled down at the back, coped well with Crouch - who we said would be the danger man - and the pairing of Gestede and King has caused problems round the back. That threat has never been extinguished by Stoke."

    Craig Conway shoots

Almost a brilliant goal for Blackburn! Craig Conway summons the spirit of Ricky Villa to dance into the penalty area from out on the right wing, he beats one man, beats two and just has the keeper to beat - but drags it wide! For a moment the magic of the cup was well and truly alive.

    Blackburn 4-1 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

    A dejected Glenn Whelan

"I don't think Stoke have done anything about King. It's just a simple ball over the top again and it's divided the two defenders. King's pace put him through, and at this moment in time he's the king of Blackburn!"

  147. Post update

    Blackburn 4-1 Stoke

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    FA Cup Final Score

"We thought it was a replay of his previous goal (see 16:18). It is just ridiculous - Josh King has been running in behind all game. Steven N'Zonzi, tracking back, looked like he was running in treacle. Stoke have made this far too easy for Blackburn."

  148. GOAL

Derby County 1-1 Reading - Darren Bent (61 mins)

    Darren Bent celebrates

That's what he's paid for! Darren Bent is in the right place, at the right time to steer in Jesse Lingard's shot with his groin. A painful blow, but one that puts Derby back in with a shout.

Can the 10 men go on from here?

  149. Player reaction on Twitter

    West Brom 4-0 West Ham

    James Morrison and Craig Gardner

West Brom midfielder Craig Gardner: "Great result from the boys again today. One win away from Wembley."

Record signing Brown Ideye scored twice as resurgent West Brom thumped West Ham to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2008 earlier today.

  150. Post update

    Derby County 0-1 Reading

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    FA Cup Final Score

"Since the break Derby had been playing exceptional football. You would have thought it was Reading who had 10 men, but they break away, and on the counter Hal Robnson-Kanu had enough time to take a touch and finish after a cut-back. It's a cruel game, football. Now Reading are on the front foot."

  151. GOAL

    Blackburn 4-1 Stoke - Josh King HAT-TRICK (55 mins)

Torched. Stoke's makeshift back four is torn apart by the pace of Josh King once again, they are all over the place and he burns away from a frankly half-hearted chase back by Steven N'Zonzi to slot into the corner. A hat-trick, and a place in the last eight.

    Josh King
  152. SUBSTITUTION

    Blackburn 3-1 Stoke

Steve Sidwell is on for the stricken Marc Muniesa, I think Steven N'Zonzi is in at centre-half. Stoke well short of defenders, and they let Robert Huth go out on loan on deadline day.

  153. Post update

    Blackburn 3-1 Stoke

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    FA Cup Final Score

"Blackburn have dominated in every single department. Josh King has been consistently running in behind, causing Stoke problems with his pace. This time he gets away and his finish was excellent. He just slides it in the bottom corner. King is playing at the top of his game and richly deserves his goals."

  154. GOAL

Blackburn 3-1 Stoke - Josh King (50 mins)

    Joshua King celebrates

A nightmare for Stoke. Absolute nightmare. Stoke defender Marc Muniesa pulls up as he chases a long ball back, hamstring gone, he's down and it allows Josh King to run on and bury his second of the day.

It's a long way back for Stoke now. With 10 men. Muniesa is finished, carried off the pitch.

  155. GOAL

    Derby County 0-1 Reading - Hal Robson-Kanu (53 mins)

    Hal Robson-Kanu celebrates

The touch of Bryan Robson, the finish of Kanu! Lovely goal from Reading forward Hal Robson-Kanu, collecting a cross from the right and calm as you like, curling into the net. Lovely touch.

  156. Post update

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Derby - down to 10 men, remember - make a shaky start to the second half and Simon Cox has a shot well blocked for Reading.

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

"Mark Hughes is out of his box, after spending most of the first half inside it. He'll have had a word with his troops at the break, because the few minutes before the they were second best."

  158. Post update

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

Ironic cheers and the odd 'Hallelujah!' from the away end as Stoke win a free-kick. Safe to say referee Anthony Taylor isn't on Stoke fans' Christmas card list. Or Valentine's, for that matter.

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

And we are back up and running at Ewood park.

  161. SUBSTITUTION

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

A half-time sub for 10-man Stoke as they reshuffle at the back - Andy Wilkinson is on for Marko Arnautovic.

  162. Post update

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

    FA Cup Final Score

"Stoke have to go for the game now. They are a goal behind but with the players they have, forward-thinking players, they are capable of getting back into it. It will take a big effort from them though."

  163. KICK-OFF

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Jamie Macky of Derby takes on the Reading defence

Everything but the goal. That was the story of the first half in Derby. Can we get some now? They are back under way.

Tim Sherwood has been appointed manager at Aston Villa, signing a contract at the club until summer 2018.

Remi Akinyombo: Sherwood's stock is high because he had the highest win percentags of any Tottenham manager. Pretty good selling point.

Jon Evans: Tasty appointment. Sherwood and Villa have a point to prove. Make or break for both sides.

  165. League Two half-time

Shrewsbury and Burton, first and second in League Two respectively, are 1-0 up against Wimbledon and Oxford United. Results elsewhere means they could be set to build a little cushion over their competitors because Wycombe, third, are losing at home to Newport 1-0.

Elsewhere, there are a lot of disappointed Northampton fans on John-Joe O'Toole day because the midfielder in question has been sent off for the Cobblers in the first half. The good news is that they are holding Mansfield to a goalless draw at the break.

  166. Post update

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

"Blackburn have done really well to get back and Josh King has played a big part in that. He's scored one goal and got brought down for the other. He gives his team that bit of energy."

  167. League One half-time

The top two in League One are both ahead in their games at the break. Bristol City are 1-0 up at home to Sheffield United, while Swindon are winning at Scunthorpe by the same scoreline.

That is bad news for third place MK Dons, who started a day one point behind second-place Swindon. They are 2-1 down at Gillingham.

Other notable scorelines are Colchester, in the final relegation place, 1-0 up at Oldham while strugglers Crawley are 1-0 up against managerless Barnsley.

  169. Post update

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

This is a Stoke side who can't deal with the long ball up to a big man. Tony Pulis will be appalled.

Josh King and Rudy Gestede are causing all kinds of problems up top for Blackburn - and Jordan Rhodes is on the bench too.

  170. Post update

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    FA Cup Final Score

"Rudy Gestede has missed a couple of chances already but he was so confident with the penalty. He just stepped up, waited for the goalkeeper to go one way and coolly slotted the ball home. You can see why Premier League clubs have been looking at him. Worst case scenario for Stoke. Concede a penalty and get a man sent off."

  171. Post update

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

    FA Cup Final Score

"A great penalty from Rudy Gestede and Blackburn deserve it. What a fantastic time to score, right on half-time. Stoke now have to come back after the break and find something. Have they got it in them? This is where the manager earns his coin."

  172. HALF-TIME

    Blackburn 2-1 Stoke

Stoke were 1-0 up early on but have been pegged back - and perhaps crucially - are down to 10 men.

  173. Championship half-time

    Have you got a plough?

    Blackpool

Their pitch is not the greatest but struggling Blackpool won't care because they lead Nottingham Forest 1-0 at half-time, Gary Madine with the goal.

Elsewhere, current Championship leaders Bournemouth head down the tunnel 1-0 up against Huddersfield.

Two goals in as many minutes means Bolton lead Watford 2-1 while Leeds are beating Millwall, in the final relegation place, 1-0. Other half-time results are: Fulham 0-2 Ipswich, Norwich 1-0 Wolves, Sheff Wed 0-0 Brighton and Charlton 1-0 Brentford.

  174. GOAL

Blackburn 2-1 Stoke - Rudy Gestede (Pen 45 mins)

Cool as you like. In front of the thousands of away fans Rudy Gestede rolls in his 14th of the season. Blackburn on their way into the last eight?

He has to go! The American Geoff Cameron is dismissed.

  176. PENALTY to Blackburn

    Blackburn 1-1 Stoke

Josh King gets in on a flick-on and Geoff Cameron pulls him down. You know what that means...

  177. Post update

    Blackburn 1-1 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

"It's been a terrific first half; chances, bookings. It's been a good cup tie and the way Blackburn have fought back has been important. There could have been two or three more goals, easy."

  178. HALF-TIME

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Simon Dawkins fires over the top right at the end of the half. Good game, Derby down to 10 but a very even game. Chances galore.

  179. Player reaction on Twitter

    West Brom 4-0 West Ham

    Adrian

West Ham goalkeeper Adrian: "After this shameful result in the FA Cup, just we can say SORRY to all West Ham fans! Now we need to be united and fight in Premier league!"

  180. INJURY TIME

    Blackburn 1-1 Stoke

There are EIGHT minutes added on at Ewood Park. Eight! Largely due to a stoppage for an injury to Ben Marshall right at the start.

Mame Diouf is close to a super cross from Marko Arnautovic as the chances keep on coming.

  181. CLOSE!

    Blackburn 1-1 Stoke

You've got to score! Josh King down the left for Blackburn, good ball in and it's on a plate for you Rudy Gestede. A message for you, Rudy.

But he somehow fluffs his shot, kicking the ground more than the ball. A real, real chance in a breathless first half.

  182. Post update

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    FA Cup Final Score

"I don't think there is any malicious intent in the challenge from Stephen Warnock (see 15:39) but it is stupid - that would be fair to say. It's been a very entertaining game. Derby have opened up Reading on more that one occasion but Adam Federici's pulled off some very good saves. I played with him at Reading. He is a fantastic goalkeeper, and almost an obsessive trainer. I've never seen anybody work as hard as him."

  183. PENALTY APPEAL

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Derby get away with one here! Richard Keogh blocks a shot from Danny Williams, the ball hits him on the hip but then bounces up onto his outstretched arm. The Reading players mass around referee Craig Pawson, but he's having none of it.

  184. Post update

    Blackburn 1-1 Stoke

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

    FA Cup Final Score

"Both teams have gone close to scoring the second of the game, but Blackburn have got it. Rudy Gestede wins the initial header but Josh King is in a really good position and gets the faintest of final touches to score the goal. That's a great one for young strikers - that little position in front of the goalkeeper on a set-piece will get you half a dozen goals a season."

  186. Post update

    Blackburn 1-1 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

"Blackburn have equalised after their best move of the game, from the corner. There was a bit of a lull in Stoke's marking, Shane Duffy got the ball in initially and Josh King was no more than two yards away from goal with the header.

"We said it a few minutes ago, we've got a cup tie on our hands - and it all came from those challenges inside their own box. Winning the 50-50 tackles gave the fans a lift."

  187. RED CARD

Derby County 0-0 Reading - Stephen Warnock (Derby)

Not the debut Stephen Warnock was hoping for! The former England full-back is off, getting a second yellow card for following through in a challenge. There wasn't much contact but evidently enough. Not in the script for the Rams.

  188. Sherwood named Villa boss

    Pat Murphy

    BBC Radio 5 live

    Sherwood

"I wonder if Randy Lerner knows what he has let himself for. Tim Sherwood does not suffer fools gladly and I doubt he would hold his tongue too much and one or two player may get a few rough words. He has worked with academies before at Tottenham, Villa will like that but I wonder who his coaches will be?

"QPR's current manager Chris Ramsey is a loss to him, he helped him greatly at Tottenham, as did Les Ferdinand so who will he bring in?

"It won't be dull at Villa Park."

  189. GOAL

Blackburn 1-1 Stoke - Josh King (36 mins)

You can't beat a goal from a corner. Stoke opened the scoring from one earlier and now Blackburn level in similar fashion. Shane Duffy wins a commanding header and Josh King is in the right place in front of Stoke keeper Jack Butland to nod into the net.

    Josh King goal
  190. CLOSE!

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

As entertaining a 0-0 as you'll see! Reading now go close as Simon Cox meets a sep cross from the left with a cracking volley, the connection was first-class, but he can't quite keep it down, skimming the top of the bar.

  192. GREAT SAVE!

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Will we get a breakthrough at the iPro before half-time? Derby go close twice in quick succession. First debutant Jesse Lingard hits a dipping, swerving shot from 20 yards which Adam Federici has to push away, and then Darren Bent at his best, a quick turn and shot from inside the area, and another good save from Federici.

    West Brom 4-0 West Ham

West Brom boss Tony Pulis told BT Sport: "It was a good performance and I'm very pleased but there is still a long way to go, in the league and we need that bit of luck with the next draw.

"Things went our way and I'm really pleased for the players and, scoring four goals, all the punters who came to watch.

  197. CLOSE!

    Blackburn 0-1 Stoke

How are Stoke not 2-0 up?

Victor Moses cuts in from the left, his powerful drive is parried by Simon Eastwood onto Peter Crouch's shins. The big man can't steer it in and then Mame Diouf gobbles up the loose ball - only to fire over the top from six yards out!

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

It's still an end-to-end game at Derby. Jeff Hendrick is the latest man to chance his arm but the Rams midfielder fires into the stands on his left foot. There has to be goals in this one.

  202. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-0 Huddersfield

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    FA Cup Final Score

"Bournemouth remind me of my Reading team. They continually chip away at sides and are winning games against teams with bigger names. They've scored 65 goals already this season and that's an incredible return. Eddie Howe's side are going back to the top of the Championship table if they win today. Their opening goal was lovely, Yann Kermogant rifling one home with a little bit of curl."

  203. Football League round-up

Bournemouth are top of the Championship as things stand, having taken the lead against Huddersfield. Yann Kermorgant getting the goal.

It is goalless everywhere else in the division except for at Fulham, where Ipswich lead 1-0 thanks to Daryl Murphy's goal.

In League Two, Peterborough are seemingly coasting at home to Rochdale, with two goals in three minutes giving them a 2-0 advantage. Third-place MK Dons are 1-0 down at Gillingham while Colchester are a goal up at Oldham.

Not too many goals to report in League Two, with Bury 2-0 up at Cheltenham the standout scoreline at the moment.

  204. YELLOW CARD

    Blackburn 0-1 Stoke

Both games are very watchable right now, chances galore. Mame Diouf has gone into the book for an ugly challenge in midfield, there are a few of those going in too.

You can tick 'proper cup tie' off your cliche list. This is one.

  205. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Blackburn 0-1 Stoke

Big chance for Blackburn! Josh King should have them level as he collects a knockdown in the box, all sorts of space, but he slams his shot against the top of the bar and away.

    A great, great chance.

  206. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Reading work an intricate free-kick - like Argentina v England, 1998 - as Nathaniel Chalobah slides a pass around the jumping wall to the run of Simon Cox.

It's beautifully judged, but Cox takes a touch too long to get the shot away, and when he does he hits the base of the post!

  207. CLOSE!

    Blackburn 0-1 Stoke

Stoke could bury Blackburn by half-time at this rate, they are cutting through the backline with ease, this time Mame Diouf finding Marko Arnautovic on the right of the box and the Austrian slams a shot into the side-netting.

  208. Post update

    Blackburn 1-0 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

"I thought they'd been pushed back, Blackburn, for the past few minutes - you could sort of see that goal coming. The defenders look a bit uncertain, by that I don't just mean the back four. There's too much space between two centre-backs and the players in front of them. Consequently, Stoke are being allowed to spread ball too easily."

  209. Post update

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    FA Cup Final Score

"Derby are playing some really slick football. They are always looking to play in Darren Bent, running in behind after some intricate passing. Reading are going to have to be careful of their defensive line. If they are caught high up, there's nobody better than Bent to run in behind."

    Derby
  210. GREAT SAVE!

    Blackburn 0-1 Stoke

Stoke close to a second, former Rovers striker Mame Biram Diouf thumps in a drive from the edge of the box which forces Simon Eastwood into a sprawling save.

Blackburn midfielder Ben Marshall did have to come off after that early knock, by the way, an Craig Conway is on.

  211. CLOSE!

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Almost the opener for the Rams! Jesse Lingard whips in a teasing free-kick from deep, it's one of those which is a cross but almost goes in as Richard Keogh fails to reach it on the slide.

The keeper was beaten but the bounce took the ball wide.

  212. Post update

    Blackburn 0-1 Stoke

    Former Wales striker John Hartson

    FA Cup Final Score

"Peter Crouch scores again and surprisingly it's not with his head. He scored a great header against Newcastle the other week. This time it's a corner that is whipped in, Blackburn don't deal with it and Crouch is first to react. He whacks it into the roof of the net. A great start for Stoke."

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

Reading just coming into the game a touch now after a slow opening 10 minutes. Their best chance has seen Alex Pearce drift a header wide from a corner.

  214. GOAL

Blackburn 0-1 Stoke - Peter Crouch (10 mins)

It would be interesting to see how Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer did tell his players to deal with Peter Crouch - because they don't make a good job of it at all.

Stoke have a corner on the right, it's not dealt with and Crouch is able to stretch out a long leg to thump home the opener off the underside of the crossbar.

That's three in three for Crouch.

Peter Crouch celebrates Stoke's first goal
  215. Post update

    Blackburn 0-0 Stoke

    Former England captain Jimmy Armfield

BBC Radio 5 live at Ewood Park

On the low Ewood Park attendance and who might be the danger men here...

"I thought there'd be more fans here from Blackburn, to rally the troops, but it's a good following from Stoke. Gary Bowyer's got his eyes on two things at same time. He wants to get in the play-offs, I've heard him say that a few times, but they're not far from Wembley - there'd be a lot more Blackburn fans there than there are tonight!

"If I was Mark Hughes - who does know his job, he's proved that over and over again - he's got to watch the Blackburn forwards. They've got goals in them. They're one of best attacking sides in the Championship. They score from 20 yards, free-kicks, headers - they're always a goal threat.

"But it'll be interesting to see how Bowyer has instructed his defenders to cope with Peter Crouch and how his side deals with the crosses coming in."

  216. PENALTY APPEAL

    Blackburn 0-0 Stoke

A half-hearted penalty appeal for the home side as Josh King goes down in the area under an untidy challenge from Marc Muniesa - the former Barcelona defender gets away with it though. Not much contact in that one.

The Stoke fans are in good voice. Delilah O'clock.

  220. CLOSE!

    Derby County 0-0 Reading

What a move from Derby! Great start from the Rams as they put together a flurry of one-twos, one-touch stuff, like Ajax in the 1970s. Darren Bent lays the ball off but Craig Bryson's finish is tame and an easy save for Adam Federici. Moments later Simon Dawkins tests the Australian keeper again.

    Derby off to a flier.

  221. League Two preview

It is tight at the top of League Two, where just two points separate the top three. Shrewsbury currently lead the way with 58 points and they are at home to AFC Wimbledon, who are unbeaten in their previous four games.

Second-place Burton are at home to Oxford United while Wycombe, in third, host Newport.

York, second from bottom, host Tranmere who themselves are in relegation trouble. They have 31 points, two more than York.

Finally, an unusual sight at Mansfield as 1,000s of Northampton fans have dressed in wigs and headbands in honour of their midfielder John-Joe O'Toole. Crazy scenes.

"Automatic promotion is so important for Derby, but as a player you will not have many opportunities to progress in the FA Cup. To leave out the likes of Will Hughes and Jake Buxton, it will be an issue for them.

"You don't want to be left out of a run like this, especially when you are playing a team from the same division as you. I think Steve McClaren has missed a trick there in terms of keeping Derby's good run going."

  230. League One preview

Bristol City have a real chance to put further daylight between themselves and second-place Swindon in League One. City are at home to Sheffield United while Swindon, four points behind, are at Scunthorpe.

Third-place MK Dons are at Gillingham and could do with a win after their automatic challenge faltered in recent weeks. They have won just one of their previous four games.

Bottom of the table Leyton Orient are at Chesterfield, who could climb into the play-offs with a win, while Colchester travel to Oldham needing a win to avoid getting cut off in the relegation places. They are 21st, four points from safety.

    Blackburn v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson

    BBC Sport football analyst

"I watched Stoke beat Rochdale in round four - it was a tough game for them but they won by playing good football and scoring some fantastic goals.

"Blackburn's form in the Championship is very middle of the road - they have not won two games back-to-back since the start of November - and, although they are in the top half of the table, they are not really involved in the play-off race.

"I think everyone was mystified why Blackburn only drew a crowd of less than 6,000 for their win over Swansea in the last round, and it will be interesting to see how many turn up for this one."

  234. Championship preview

Plenty of action in the Championship today with eight games kicking off at 15:00 GMT. Leaders Middlesbrough are not playing today - they face Arsenal in the Cup on Sunday - so a chance for Bournemouth to go top if they avoid defeat at home to Huddersfield.

Elsewhere, Ipswich - in fourth - have the chance to move to within a point of third-place Derby with a victory at Fulham.

At the other end of the table, Blackpool really need to pick up all three points against Nottingham Forest to ease their relegation fears ever so slightly. They are bottom, 10 points from safety. Millwall will need to get a result at Leeds if they are to move out of relegation zone, depending on results elsewhere.

Reading manager Steve Clarke: "It was a disappointing defeat to Leeds in midweek but I have been really pleased with players. We are trying to progress step by step. The players have been good and responded well. I'm looking forward to the game today.

"I think with the teams we have picked in this competition we have shown it respect. It's a tough game today against a tough Championship side in Derby - who are where we want to be in the league.

"Team selection has been pretty consistent. I have got a really strong bench as well if I need to make changes during the game.

"I think we can take West Brom out of the relegation equation now. They have been very good today. West Ham have been bad, but the home side have shown they should be taken out of that bracket."

It's too late for the away side now."

  276. GOAL

West Brom 3-0 West Ham - Brown Ideye

That is that as West Brom take full advantage of a static West Ham defence. Chris Brunt crosses behind the defence, Saido Berahino can't get the crucial touch and the ball runs through to Stephane Sessegnon, who crosses back in and Brown Ideye rises to nod home.

Not a half to take many positives from for West Ham as they failed to trouble Ben Foster in the West Brom goal. They'll need to change things, but how? Options are pretty limited on the bench.

Tony Pulis has got them set up tactically well, he's picked the good players and got people believing in what they are doing. He keeps it simple, Tony Pulis. I played under him at Portsmouth so I know how he likes to play. It's not complicated - get the ball down and pass it. West Ham, meanwhile, have looked like a team of total strangers."

We've seen very little positive from them going forward."

"You cannot say West Brom have not threatened to do that. But again there are five West Ham players around James Morrison, and not one of them goes to him. There has been space around the box and they've been inviting the home side to shoot. Unless Sam Allardyce changes things West Ham could be well beaten here."

No shots on target so far from West Ham. Their attempts to force their way through the middle are not working and we are yet to see the pace of Diafra Sakho cause the Baggies any problems. A game that would have been perfect for the injured Andy Carroll?

    Former Portsmouth striker Steve Claridge

BBC Radio 5 live at The Hawthorns

"That would have been one of the goals of the season. Craig Gardner hit it so hard, Adrian was diving after the ball came back off the bar. What a strike. But West Brom have had so much time and space around the West Ham penalty area, under no pressure at all. The West Ham defenders don't seem to know when to break out and close down. If West Brom get the next goal, you'd have to go an awfully long way to make a case for the visitors winning it."

  299. HITS THE WOODWORK

    West Brom 1-0 West Ham

Oh what a goal this would have been! Craig Gardner fancies a go from well over 35 yards, you can almost sense the groans from the home fans who anticipate seeing it sail over, but it smashes against the crossbar. Fantastic effort.

Saido Berahino may not be on it, but the football from his team-mates has been lovely to watch at times in this half. Quick, one-touch passing ending with bursts forward in an effort to force an opening. One comes when a loose ball falls to Stephane Sessegnon on the edge of the area, he sees a gap and has a go at goal, but is leaning back all the time and scoops it well over.

    West Brom 1-0 West Ham

West Ham cannot handle Brown Ideye. He lets a pass run beyond him, and powers beyond Cheikhou Kouyate, with his storming run eventually earning the hosts a corner.

To think, Ideye was seemingly set to leave West Brom in January and Carlton Cole, currently sat on the West Ham bench, was being lined up as his replacement. Ideye looks every bit a £10m striker at the moment.

West Brom, they know their set-up, they know what is required and look by far the better side at the moment.

    FA Cup rewind

Itching for some live football to get under way? We can't give you that just yet but we have the next best thing - FA Cup rewind.

Guy Mowbray digs deep into the TV archives to unearth some classic games from the FA Cup's fifth round and the show includes Barnsley's dramatic victory over Liverpool at Anfield in 2008 along with the visit of Everton to face Wimbledon's 'Crazy Gang' in 1987.

Watch from 11:00 GMT on BBC Two.

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Victory for PSG in their game we mentioned a couple of entries ago would see Zlatan Ibrahimovic (pictured) and his team-mates leapfrog Ligue 1 leaders Lyon, who play on Sunday.

Meanwhile, champions Bayern Munich could extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 11 points with a win at home to Hamburg at 14:30 GMT.

Real Madrid v Deportivo (17:00 GMT)

    Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo

With the Champions League returning, there is added interest in this weekend's European football fixtures.

Real Madrid's match against Deportivo (17:00 GMT) is our feature live text commentary today, with the La Liga leaders looking to bounce back from the 4-0 defeat by city rivals Atletico last week.

Who knows, Cristiano Ronaldo might be allowed to party without criticism if his team produce a good performance.

    Zlatan

What's Zlatan Ibrahimovic up to for Valentine's Day? PSG are in action this afternoon against Caen, but I wouldn't put it past him to stop off on his way to the game and call in on his waxwork.

Got to love his caption as well for the above photo: "The one to the right is made of wax and the one to the left is made of steel."

He definitely sent himself a Valentine's Day card...

You will be able to follow the action from today's European football online this afternoon, and head to our European index for all the latest scores and updates.

Kathryn Bate: Made my boyfriend watch Plymouth and Barnet a few years ago instead of going out. Drew 0-0. We broke up not long after.

Gregory P: Offered to take the girlfriend to New York for Valentines Day. Had to cancel after the match at Rotherham was postponed for a cup match.

Gooner: Have lunch together and then a walk to watch the Kenyan Premier League kick off. She wasn't for that idea though, needed a lot of convincing.

West Brom v West Ham (12:45 GMT)

    West Brom

History suggests the first game today will not involved the eventual winner of the FA Cup.

Both sides have good pedigree in the competition, but it has been a while since they gone all the way. West Brom's last win was in 1968, while West Ham won it in 1980.

Liam Riley: "I took my better half to Bolton v Arsenal in an FA Cup replay 2007 game on the premise I would take her for a nice meal first. We got stuck in match day traffic so the meal wasn't too good, the game went to extra time and we lost and she froze and vowed never to come to the match again! We are still together though!"

  371. Post update

West Brom v West Ham (12:45 GMT)

    Former Blackburn striker Jason Roberts

    BBC Radio 5 live

"When Andy Carroll was out earlier in the season West Ham kind of fell in to playing in a bit more of an open way. With Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia in the side, those two are interchangeable, one playing on the wing and the other more central. If you have an Andy Carroll in the side you feel you have to knock the ball up to him and play in a more direct style, so in a strange way I think his injury might help West Ham to adapt their style a little bit.

"We all knew Tony Pulis would steady the ship at West Brom. He seems to have settled on Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye in the side upfront, and they will be able to cause West Ham a lot of problems."

  372. Hammers play 'scintillating' football

West Brom v West Ham (12:45 GMT)

Former West Ham striker John Hartson

    BBC Radio 5 live

"With Chelsea out and Manchester City out, West Ham will be hoping for a trip to Wembley. They are playing some great football under Sam Allardyce, some scintillating football. And in midweek having gone down to 10 men they got a great point at Southampton. Andy Carroll is a massive loss to them though.

"West Brom, under Tony Pulis they are showing great spirit. Last week they got a point after going two down at Burnley and they beat Swansea in midweek, which was an excellent result. I think it should be a great game."

  373. Carroll blow for the Hammers

West Brom v West Ham (12:45 GMT)

    West Ham

Looking ahead to today's action and one player who will not feature for West Ham is striker Andy Carroll, who will have surgery on his injured left knee next week and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Carroll suffered medial ligament damage in Wednesday's 0-0 draw at Southampton.

The 26-year-old was forced to stay on the pitch because West Ham were down to 10 men and had made all three of their substitutions.

  375. Lawro's predictions

    BBC Sport expert Mark Lawrenson

Mickey Thomas and Nigel Jemson are part of FA Cup folklore. Thomas scored a spectacular free-kick to help Fourth Division side Wrexham memorably beat league champions Arsenal in 1992. Eleven years later, Jemson hit both goals as Shrewsbury beat an Everton side who were 80 places above them.

Now the pair are hoping to produce another great shock - defeating BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson in this week's Lawro's predictions.

Jemson, who is now working as a coach at Nottingham Forest's academy, told BBC Sport: "It is well documented that I do not like Manchester United, who I turned down when they tried to sign me before I joined Forest in 1988. I would love to see a major upset on Monday and for Preston to win."

Have a look at their weekend predictions and see if you agree with them.

  376. Footballers can be romantics too

    Bill Shankly

It might be easy to think that footballers and football managers are not the romantic types, but think again. There will be plenty up and down the country today showing their soppy side to their respective partners.

Even the legendary Bill Shankly, the no-nonsense Scot who won three First Division titles, two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup as Liverpool boss, was capable of displaying moments of romance, in his own way anyway, once taking his wife to a Rochdale game to celebrate a special occasion.

"Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present. It was her birthday," he once said.

"Would I have got married in the football season? Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves."

  377. Coming up on BBC radio

    BBC Radio 5 live

BBC Radio 5 live begins its coverage of the day's football with live commentary from The Hawthorns, where West Brom take on West Ham in a 12:45 GMT kick-off.

That will be followed by full coverage of the 15:00 game between Blackburn Rovers and Stoke on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra, while 5 live goes over to the rugby.

Then from 16:30 5 live comes back to football for the closing stages of Derby v Reading, before bringing you another full match commentary - Crystal Palace v Liverpool at Selhurst Park. That one gets under way at 17:30.

And later tonight you can have your say on all the day's hot topics with 606, on at the later time of 19:25.

  378. Coming up on BBC TV

It's FA Cup fifth round weekend, so why not begin your day with the luxurious nostalgia of FA Cup rewind on BBC Two and online from 11:00 GMT.

At 12:10 there's a special edition of Football Focus live from Ewood Park in Blackburn, before Final Score brings you news of all the goals as they go in. That's on from 14:30 on the Red Button and from 16:30 on BBC Two, except for viewers in Scotland, who can watch Sportscene instead.

Of course later tonight you can catch all the day's highs and lows on Match of the Day from 22:30 on BBC One, except for viewers in Scotland, where it follows Sportscene (22:30 - 23:25) at 23:25.

And later still The Football League Show gets under way at 23:35 on BBC One.

  380. Liverpool keeper back after bad time

There's an interesting interview in the Daily Telegraph today with Liverpool's Simon Mignolet in which the keeper effectively admits to having had the yips.

    Simon Mignolet

Mignolet claims he was overthinking his entire game and, after being axed from the team before Christmas, it took some harsh words from his fiancee over a meal in a restaurant to sort him out.

"It's probably to do with my character, being someone who went to school, university, and even in my private life - I'm not someone who will act impulsively or do crazy things," he said. "I won't wake up and go and buy myself a Ferrari, which some football players might do. It is in my character and came into my game."

Since winning back his place, the Liverpool man has kept five clean sheets in eight games - and looks likely to be between the sticks when Brendan Rodgers' side face Palace later today.

  381. Saturday's back pages

    The Sun

Taking a look at The Sun and its claim that Burnley striker Danny Ings is heading to Spain today for talks with David Moyes' Real Sociedad.

This would appear to be a blow for Liverpool, who are rumoured to be keen on acquiring the 22-year-old's services in the summer.

According to the paper, Sociedad are set to offer Ings - who has fired nine goals in 22 Premier League games - a £60,000-a-week contract in a bid to tempt him to leave the Clarets at the end of the season

  382. Saturday's back pages

    The Mirror

An interesting tale in The Mirror, who report that former England, Arsenal and Tottenham centre-half Sol Campbell wants to be the next manager of Aston Villa.

Given the 40-year-old has no coaching experience whatsoever and revealed his ambition on Twitter, this would appear to be - and this is putting it mildly - something of a long shot.

  383. Saturday's back pages

    The Independent

Tim Sherwood seems close to being appointed the next Aston Villa manager, reports The Independent.

Sherwood has been linked with just about every Premier League managerial vacancy going this term, after the job he did at Tottenham last season.

If he gets the nod at Villa, the 46-year-old has a heck of a job in his hands - the team is without a win in 10 Premier League games, during which time they have collected three points and scored two goals. Grim.

    Valentine's Day

Right then, as part of the Danny Baker Show on BBC Radio 5 live, which has just got under way, we want to hear your tales of when sport and love collide. Ever shunned a romantic day and risked the wrath of your other half to get to a sporting event?

Maybe you have even planned a specific holiday under the pretence of a romantic getaway, but the real reason is because you want to visit the Nou Camp for the first time, or take in the Milan derby 'seeing as you are there'.

What are your plans for Valentine's Day today? Have you convinced your partner that love can blossom at the Hawthorns or Ewood Park?

    Valerntines Day

Let's be honest, trying to convince the other half that a trip to The Hawthorns on Valentine's Day is going to be a tough sell.

Ordinarily, West Brom versus West Ham is hardly a tie that gets the pulses racing but then this is the FA Cup, and there has been plenty of excitement served up so far.

Don't believe me? Then have a watch of our video of some of the memorable clashes we have already been treated to in the season's tournament, with a romantic twist...

  387. The romance of the FA Cup

    FA Cup

Yep, it is Valentine's Day and I don't know about you but I'm in the mood for love. Not the kind that involves buying overpriced cards and flowers, though, the romance I am hoping for is in the FA Cup.

The last round provided us with some absolutely belting upsets, can round five top it? Here is what today looks like:

West Brom v West Ham (12:45 GMT)

    Blackburn v Stoke(15:00)

    Derby v Reading (15:00)

    Crystal Palace v Liverpool (17:30)

  388. Love is in the air...

It's Valentine's Day. Your stomach is doing somersaults as you work out how exactly you are going to pop the question.

First, you might decide to set the mood with a bit of breakfast in bed...

    Breakfast in bed

...then perhaps a romantic walk, the perfect setting to muster the courage to finally say what you need to say.

You turn to your partner, breathe in deeply before uttering the words: "Will you...

...mind if I head off to The Hawthorns in a couple of hours?"
