Young Alzheimer patients 'don't report memory loss'
Younger sufferers of Alzheimer's may not display the signs of memory loss usually associated with the disease, research by University College London has found.
A study of nearly 8,000 people attending Alzheimer's clinics across America found 25% of those under 60 did not report memory loss as a first sign that they had the condition. Instead, they reported difficulty with judgment, problems with language, or a loss of visual or spatial awareness.
The 8m (26ft) high sculpture covered with 2,300 hand-painted ceramic tulips called Candy, was unveiled in the Great Pavilion and was inspired by the 17th Century "tulipomania" in Holland in which single bulbs were exchanged for the price of houses.
A university spokeswoman said the pay gap was in line with other leading universities but that it was working to address the situation.

More than 70 firefighters are tackling a fire at a 100m-long warehouse in Greenwich.

London Fire Brigade said it was called to the warehouse on Lombard Wall in Charlton at about 16:08 and estimated about 10% of the property was alight.
Parkinson's team set off for Penzance
A man with Parkinson's has started a cycle ride from London to Cornwall with a group of 18 friends to raise funds for Parkinson's UK.
Kevin Godden, 44, who was diagnosed with the condition 10 years ago, set off from Paddington railway station with his team called Bordercross which is expected to arrive in Penzance on 23 May.
The garden, named after the charity which was co-founded by the Prince, helps children in Lesotho in Africa.

The Tree Office will have room for six to eight people and will be rented out to business or community groups as part of a project to generate investment in parks and open spaces.
The duo will be responsible for the recruitment of new players and staff, and will oversee the process of appointing a new head coach.
Weatherspoon 'apologises' over traveller discrimination
JD Weatherspoon has apologised to the travelling community after it was ruled it had discriminated against a number of delegates trying to attend a travellers conference at The Coronet pub in Holloway in 2011.
The Traveller Movement complained to the Central London County Court that a group of 15 people - including travellers, a police officer and barrister - were denied entry for racist reasons.

JD Wetherspoon denied allegations of discrimination, but Judge Hand QC ruled there had been direct discrimination and awarded damages to several individuals.
Tim Martin, chairman of the pub chain said: "Wetherspoon apologises to the eight individuals who were denied entry and for any upset and distress this caused to them...We will undertake a full review of our relevant policies, procedures and training."

Terror arrest made
A 22-year-old man has been arrested by terror police on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud after attending a local police station in north London earlier today.
It comes after terror police searched a residential address in north London as part of an investigation into fraud and money laundering in connection with terrorism in Syria.
Online shoppers are being warned about the ever-increasing number of websites selling fake luxury products after City of London Police revealed they had come across products containing rat droppings, urine and arsenic.
It will be a wet start to the afternoon with persistent rain, possibly locally very heavy with temporary gusts of wind, before it clears away by mid-afternoon. Sunny spells will follow with isolated showers pushing in on the brisk westerly winds.
Prof Michael Schneider said: "When we injected stem cells with this protein into damaged (mice) hearts, we saw a significant level of heart repair. Now that we know which stem cells to use, we want to find their equivalent in human hearts for more efficient heart repair and regeneration after heart attacks."

Arrests after pedestrian killed on A4
Two men have been arrested after a pedestrian was killed on the A4 in west London last night, Scotland Yard has said.
Police were called to the Great West Road in Brentford just before 22:00. The pedestrian, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene half an hour later.
James Bond fans lined the River Thames to watch 007 stunts being filmed in London.
Some bridges over the Thames were temporarily closed to the public as crew in high-vis vests warned pedestrians from getting too close to the action last night.
Members of the film's entourage told bystanders Daniel Craig would be taking part in a scene filmed on a speedboat. The film, Spectre, is scheduled for release on 6 November.

It said lab tests showed counterfeit products also had toxic chemicals like arsenic, mercury and cyanide.

Antony Nolan, the bone marrow charity, said it had seen a 123% rise in the number people registering with the charity in one week - increasing from 998 to 2,221 - following their campaign.
Talks due to avert rail strike
Talks aimed at averting a strike by thousands of Network Rail workers over the bank holiday will be held at the conciliation service.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport union is planning a 24-hour walkout from 17:00 on Monday May 25, and a 48-hour ban on overtime.
The union is warning that rail services will be at a standstill on Tuesday morning after Bank Holiday Monday if the strike goes ahead.

Airport commission 'taken to court either way'
A charity, which successfully took the last Heathrow expansion scheme to court, says it could do the same again if ministers press ahead with a new runway at either Heathrow or Gatwick.
The independent Airports Commission will recommend growing one of the two to handle increasing demand next month.
But the Campaign to Protect Rural England said it has "serious concerns" about the commission's work and "reasonable alternatives have been ignored from the start".
Arrests after pedestrian killed on A4
Two men have been arrested after a pedestrian was killed on the A4 in west London last night, Scotland Yard has said.
Police were called to the Great West Road in Brentford just before 22:00. The pedestrian, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene half an hour later.
Arsenal closes in on third spot
Arsenal will secure third place in the Premier League if they beat Sunderland on Wednesday after Theo Walcott's deflected cross gave them a late equaliser and a point at Manchester United.
Bond fans see filming on Thames
James Bond fans lined the River Thames to watch 007 stunts being filmed in London.
Some bridges over the Thames were temporarily closed to the public as crew in high-vis vests warned pedestrians from getting too close to the action last night.
Members of the film's entourage told bystanders Daniel Craig would be taking part in a scene filmed on a speedboat. The film, Spectre, is scheduled for release on 6 November.
Rat droppings and arsenic found in fake beauty items
Police are warning people about fake beauty products after substances such as rat droppings, human urine and arsenic were found in seized goods.
Make-up, perfume and sun cream are among the phony items being highlighted by the City of London Police.
It said lab tests showed counterfeit products also had toxic chemicals like arsenic, mercury and cyanide.

Dartford Crossing drivers charged twice, says AA
Some drivers using the Dartford Crossing on the M25 are being charged twice due to glitches with the payment system, the AA said.
Online payments were introduced on the crossing in November when the toll booths were scrapped.
The AA said early teething problems had persisted and complaints from drivers paying online were not being resolved quickly enough. Highways England said the vast majority of payments were processed accurately.
Teenager charged with attempted murder
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of cannabis with intent to supply following a shooting in New Cross, south-east London, in the early hours of Saturday.
The teenager from Deptford has been remanded in custody to appear before Bromley Magistrates' Court later today.
