Police warning after teens' 171ft George Street Bridge slide

Teenagers who filmed themselves climbing a 171ft (52m) bridge - and sliding down it - have been criticised by police.

The dangerous stunt was carried out on George Street Bridge, Newport, and posted on Facebook.

Ch Insp Jo Bull from Gwent Police said: "These two boys are putting themselves and others in extreme danger in return for a quick adrenalin rush.

"We cannot over-emphasise the clear risks involved in this type of activity, and strongly advise against anyone doing anything similar.

"We urge parents to speak to their children about the dangers involved and to warn them of the possible consequences."

Newport City Council, which owns the bridge, declined to comment.
