A new drive to market Aberdeen as a tourist destination to the Chinese is to be launched, BBC Scotland has learned.
Tourism agency VisitAberdeen is turning its sights on the Far East as a potential lucrative market.
It has already begun building a specialised website in China to promote Aberdeen.
The city already has strong links with the country through the oil and gas industry.
Chief executive Steve Harris said the Chinese represented a fast-growing tourism market, with a love of "golf, whisky and history".
