  2. National Crime Agency confirms case dropped

    Here's the full statement issued by the National Crime Agency on the news Lauri Love has dropped his court action against.

    He said "We can confirm the NCA received a summons for attendance at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on the 6 July 2015. The complaint against the NCA - and subsequent summons - have now been withdrawn by the complainant.

    "As our investigations continue, we will not be providing any further comment at this time."

  3. 'A bunch of uninvited guests'

    Speaking in May, Lauri Love said he was "glad" that 25 of the 31 items seized from his Suffolk home had been returned.

    "I am glad that 573 days after a bunch of uninvited guests turned up and took all my nice things, they have found it in their hearts to return, for example, my mother's computer with irreplaceable family photos and my mobile phone," he said.

    Lauri Love, who has dropped his court action against the National Crime Agency (NCA), already had 25 of the 31 seized items returned, including laptops, computer towers, memory sticks and hard drives.

    Mr Love, who has been told he won't face charges in the UK, was suspected of working to breach the security of the US military, US space agency Nasa, the Environmental Protection Agency, FBI and the US Federal Reserve, in October 2013.

    I've not been able to get any response from Mr Love this afternoon but the news has been confirmed by the courts service and the NCA.

    A Suffolk man who was arrested on suspicion of hacking US government computers has withdrawn his court action against the National Crime Agency (NCA).

    Lauri Love, 30, of Stradishall, launched a legal action against the NCA for the return of computer equipment seized during his arrest in 2013.

    The case was due to be heard on Monday but the NCA have this afternoon confirmed to me that it has been dropped. More to follow.

  6. Weather update: A risk of thundery showers overnight

    After a fine evening with some late sunshine, cloud will thicken with the threat of some thundery showers through the start of the night.

    Although some places may stay mostly dry, others could see torrential downpours and hail, particularly across western areas. It will turn drier towards the end of the night but it will be a muggy night for all.

  9. Duration of Clare gas work project cut by almost half

    Residents and businesses in Clare have been told work to replace a gas main, which was originally scheduled to take seven weeks, will now be completed in four.

    A spokeswoman for the National Grid said as a result of public feedback, they'll work extended hours and use additional staff to carry out the upgrade.

    Work begins on 13 July. The recommended diversion for traffic involves a 45-mile detour.

  10. Annual Maverick Festival gets under way

    Billy Bragg is just one of the names featuring at this year's Maverick Festival at Easton Farm Park near Woodbridge, which gets under way today.

  12. Ipswich MP speaks out on the cost of missed GP appointments

    The MP for Ipswich says the principle of an NHS that's free at the point of use is something that's got to be protected.

    Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk, Ben Gummer, who's also a health minister, said the government has to make sure people understand the costs of missing appointments, which comes to "hundreds of millions of pounds".

    He added: "We're going to inform people if they miss an appointment what it's cost because hopefully if people understand the consequences of their actions... then it will encourage people to use public money better."

  13. Ben Gummer: 'I'm not a political stamp collector'

    Ben Gummer has told the Lesley Dolphin afternoon show he loves politics for "what it can achieve", rather than anything else.

  14. Ben Gummer: 'Stop slagging off Ipswich'

    Ipswich MP Ben Gummer has issued a rallying cry to the county of Suffolk to get behind the town.

    He highlighted its museums, some exisiting shops, the waterfront (pictured) and football club as attractions in an interview with Lesley Dolphin.

    In a message to Suffolk, he said: "If you want a county town to be proud of you can't continue slagging it off. Back Ipswich and you will have the county town we deserve."

  15. Ben Gummer: Being MP wasn't always the plan

    Ben Gummer, Ipswich's Conservative MP, has told Lesley Dolphin the "last thing he wanted" was to be an MP when he was younger.

  16. Tunisia beach attacks silence 'sends clear message'

    Stephen Ardley, mayor of Lowestoft, has said the minute's silence in memory of those killed in the Tunisia beach attacks is a "clear message of support and sympathy" for the family of Stuart Cullen.

    "It will send out a clear message of support and sympathy to the Cullen family," said Mr Ardley.

    Mr Cullen, 52, from the Lowestoft area, was among 38 people shot dead.

  17. Work gets under way to improve traffic flow in east Ipswich

    Work has begun today to try to reduce congestion in east Ipswich as part of a £1m project.

    Road widening will take place along Ransomes Way, Felixstowe Road and Nacton Road, Suffolk County Council said.

    Drivers and local businesses are being warned by Suffolk Highways about disruption, as there will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights, but it's hoped most of the resurfacing will take place at night.

  18. Royal christening: Flowers headed to Ipswich

    The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked that flowers donated by well-wishers at the christening of their daughter, Princess Charlotte, will come to the Treehouse hospice in Ipswich.

    The flowers will be collected from Sandringham on Sunday and taken to Thetford, where they'll stay overnight.

    Then next morning, they'll be taken to the three East Anglia Children's Hospices - in Quidenham, Milton and, to the Treehouse in Ipswich.

  23. Results improving at 'inadequate' primary schools

    The head teacher of a federation of four Suffolk primary schools - three of which have been labelled inadequate by Ofsted - says she is expecting good Sats results this summer.

    Cathryn Benefer, executive headteacher at Bramfield, Middleton, Peasenhall and Yoxford primaries, said: "This summer we've got a lot better results coming, obviously they're not published yet."

  24. Suffolk chief constable's absence 'still being reviewed'

    A "review" of the situation of Suffolk chief constable Douglas Paxton, who has been been off sick for more than six months, is still ongoing.

    Mr Paxton went on sick leave on 16 December and was allowed up to six months' of his £133,845 salary before a review, which was triggered last month on 16 June.

    The office of Suffolk's police crime commissioner Tim Passmore confirmed today that process was still under way but was unable to comment further.

  29. Tunisia Beach attacks: Stuart Cullen's body being returned tomorrow

    The body of Stuart Cullen, killed in the Tunisia beach attacks last week, will be flown home to Britain tomorrow, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

    A spokesman for the FCO said his body would be brought home on the fourth day of flights to repatriat the 30 Britons killed.

    Mr Cullen, 52, from the Lowestoft area, who was holidaying with his wife, is believed to have died instantly in the attack on the beach in Sousse. His wife, who was also injured, has returned home already.

  30. Weather update: Yellow rain warning overnight

    The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain for the East of England, valid from 19:00 this evening to 12:00 tomorrow.

    It says isolated heavy thunderstorms with torrential downpours are possible in places.

    A yellow warning means there is a chance of some very localised significant disruption.

  31. Health and Safety Executive to be contacted following incident on Suffolk farm

    Suffolk police say they'll be contacting the health and safety executive following an incident on a farm at Holbrook near Ipswich this morning, in which a man became trapped in a potato harvester.

    He was freed by Suffolk fire service. Earlier reports that a second person was also trapped have not been substantiated.

  32. Potato harvester injuries 'serious but not life-threatening'

    A man was airlifted to hospital with "serious but not life-threatening leg injuries" after an incident involving a potato harvester at a farm in Holbrook, near Ipswich, the ambulance service says.

    He was taken to Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford.

  34. Missing Felixstowe teenager found safe and well

    Suffolk Police say a missing teenager from Felixstowe has been found safe and well.

    Klaudia Sokolowska, 14, had last been seen at around 19:30 on 11 June in Langer Road, where she had been with a group of friends before saying she was going home.

    Officers following-up reports of a sighting from a member of the public found Klaudia in east London yesterday evening.

  35. Onehouse nursing home vows to make 'required improvements'

    A nursing home in Onehouse, near Stowmarket, has been found to have breached the health and social care act following an inspection from the Care Quality Commission.

    The Ipswich woman whose snake hit the headlines on Suffolk Live yesterday when he was found by police in Chevallier Street, is optimistic his travelling days are over.

    Jasmine (pictured, with PC Alastair Maidment) searched all round the house when she realised he was missing: "I thought if I leave it for a day when it's quiet he'll come back out and I'll find him. But obviously that wasn't the case - the police found him for me.

    "I've just bought a new lock for his home, so hopefully he won't be able to get out of that."

  38. Suffolk MP: Charging for missed appointments 'not acceptable'

    The Conservative MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich says the idea of charging patients for missed GP appointments isn't acceptable.

    Dan Poulter was speaking in response to comments from the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who said he's he's not against charging patients who miss GP appointments.

    He said: "In particular I don't find it acceptable because the people you'll end up charging are probably some of the most vulnerable patients that you will be caring for".

  46. New boy Ryan Fraser to room with Ipswich skipper on pre season trip

    They argued on the pitch last season when they went head to head, but Ipswich Town loanee Ryan Fraser and captain Luke Chambers (pictured) are now striking up a friendship.

    Stowmarket's Josh Webster has set his stall out ahead of his appearance in the Porsche Supercup at Silverstone as part of British Grand Prix weekend.

  48. 'Inadequate' Ofsted rating for three Suffolk primary schools

    Primary schools in Yoxford, Bramfield and Peasenhall, previously rated as either good or outstanding, have now been branded inadequate by Ofsted inspectors .

    Poor teaching and management, and low achievement are just some of the problems highlighted.

    The schools have been downgraded since they formed a federation last year with Middleton primary, which is awaiting the result of its latest inspection.
