Scientists Hopeful for New Malaria Drug
Scientists who have developed a new drug to treat malaria say they're extremely hopeful it will work against existing drug-resistant strains of the disease. The team say the drug has a completely new mechanism of action and will protect people from the disease and prevent it spreading, all in a single dose. However, they say development of the drug is at a very early stage and still has to undergo extensive testing. Professor Ian Gilbert was part of the research team.
