    A warm and humid evening with large amounts of cloud and some showery outbreaks of rain, perhaps locally heavy with a rumble of thunder. Cloud gradually clearing overnight, to leave largely clear skies by dawn with temperatures falling to 9C (48F).

    Saturday will be largely fine and dry with some lengthy spells of sunshine, patchy cloud will build through the day to bring the risk of an isolated afternoon shower.

    Feeling pleasantly warm in the sunshine with a gentle northwesterly wind, temperatures will reach up to 23C (73F).

  4. Tunisia attack: Luton-based Monarch 'closely monitoring'

    Luton-based airline Monarch says it closely monitoring the situation in Tunisia, after an attack at a resort in Sousse killed 28.

    They say customers who booked directly through Monarch or Cosmos Holidays who are travelling to Tunisia within the next seven days and don't want to travel will be offered a choice of change of date or destination.

  5. Britain First react to failed injunction

    Bedfordshire Police has failed to stop the leaders of the far-right group Britain First from coming to Luton.

    It means they will be able to take part in a protest being held in the town centre tomorrow, but cannot display banners which incite racial hatred and must stick to a designated route.

    "What was on trial... was the right for people in this country to protest without the police picking and choosing which protests are allowed and which aren't", said leader of Britain First Paul Golding outside the High Court.

  6. Adam Fanelli death: Trial date set

    Two men accused of murdering Adam Fanelli from Dunstable at a travellers site in Buckinghamshire, will stand trial in September.

    Thirty-year-old Jemma Price from Bedfordshire, and 33-year-old Addy McAllister from Bolsover in Derbyshire appeared at Luton Crown Court earlier.

    The 31-year-old died from head injuries at the travellers site in Nash, on 17 March.

  9. Four in hospital after A1M crash

    Four patients were taken to hospital following a multiple vehicle collision on the A1M in Hertfordshire earlier.

    Ambulances were called just after 11:00 to J6 for Welwyn on the northbound carriageway.

    A woman in her 20s suffered abdominal pain, and another patient suffered chest pain. None of the injuries are believed to be serious.

  10. Tunisia attack: Luton-based Thomson working with teams

    At least twenty-seven people have been killed in a terrorist attack on a beach in the Tunisian resort of Sousse.

    A spokesman for the country's interior ministry says those who died are mostly tourists. Police have shot dead one of the attackers.

    Luton-based Thomson says it's working closely with its teams and the authorities in Tunisia to determine exactly what's happened and to provide assistance to those affected.

  11. Burglar caught on CCTV

    A burglar has been jailed after being caught on CCTV while breaking in to a home in Bedford.

    Daddy Smith caught on CCTV

    Daddy Smith, 27, of no fixed address, forced entry into a house in Shakespeare Road in May. He looked directly into a CCTV camera in the garden and then turned it away before stealing three handbags.

    The homeowner heard a loud bang and then saw Smith cycling away. He was jailed for two years and four months at Luton Crown Court.

  12. Swansea enquire about Watford striker

    Swansea City have enquired about Watford striker Troy Deeney's availability.

    Manager Garry Monk is looking to sign another forward before the start of the 2015-16 Premier League season.

    Deeney, 26, scored 21 league goals in 2014-15 to help the Hornets gain promotion from the Championship.

  14. Congestion on the motorways

    Due to an accident on the M11 northbound at J8 for Bishops Stortford and J9 for Saffron Walden, there's very slow traffic. Vehicles have been moved to the hard shoulder.

    There's slow traffic northbound on the M1 at J11 after an earlier accident involving a lorry and a car.

    On the M25 anti-clockwise there's congestion around J25-J26, again due to an earlier accident.

  15. Bedfordshire Police support Drowning Prevention Week

    To support Drowning Prevention Week 2015, Bedfordshire Police's latest blog post is by officers with first-hand experience of dealing with a tragic drowning incident.

    Sgt Dick Skinner was one of the first officers on the scene when 15-year-old William Stringer drowned after going for a swim in the River Ivel (pictured) in Biggleswade in August 2013.

    He writes: "It was heart-breaking having to leave the scene when the search was stood own for the night... I couldn't stop thinking about William left alone in the water, but there was nothing we could do until morning."

  16. Glastonbury artist: St Albans producer

  17. More education needed about apprenticeships

    Hertfordshire training provider, 3aaa, based in Watford, say they're struggling to recruit apprentices.

    They have 80 unfilled vacancies in areas such as accountancy, IT and digital marketing and say it's down to lack of education about apprenticeships.

    "A lot of it is to do with young people not really understanding what apprenticeships can offer, how the qualifications match up to conventional qualifications within a college", spokesman Tim Keenan said. You can see more on our Facebook page.

  18. Man to drive from LDN to Japan in double-decker

    A 25-year-old from Letchworth is leading a team bidding to drive a red double-decker bus from London to Japan and back for charity.

    Rather cloudy skies are expected for much of the afternoon, though mainly dry for much of the day and feeling quite humid. One or two sharp showers are possible in the evening, with some late sunny spells possible also. Maximum temperature: 23C (73F).

  20. Woburn Abbey Garden Show

    The finishing touches are being made to all of the gardens being exhibited as part of the 'Gardener's Gardening Show'.

    It all takes place within the 28 acres of the Abbey's grounds, which has been home to the Russell family since the early 17th Century.

  21. Three stowaways on school coach arrested

    Three men, who snuck into a coach in France, were arrested yesterday at a school in Ware on suspicion of illegal entry into the UK.

    Police were called to Presdales School just before 16:00 after three men were seen leaving a bus which had returned from a trip to France.

    The men, believed to be from Sudan, are 19, 23 and 28-years-old. They remain in custody.

  22. Adam Fanelli murder: Two suspects due in court

    Two men charged with the murder of Adam Fanelli at a travellers site in Buckinghamshire are due to appear in court later.

    Adam Fanelli, 31, from Dunstable, was found dead at Nash Park in Nash on 17 March. A post-mortem examination revealed he died from head injuries.

    Addy McAllister, 33, of Charlesworth Street, Bolsover in Derbyshire and Jemma Price, 30, from Bedfordshire will appear at Luton Crown Court this afternoon.

  23. Man hit following verbal altercation

    A man who was "involved in a collision with a van" following a verbal altercation near J12 of the M1 yesterday remains in hospital.

    The incident happened at about 16:20 on Harlington Road. The man who was hit was the occupant of a black VW Golf and the van involved was a white Ford.

    Two men, a 29-year-old from Milton Keynes and a 26-year-old from Caddington, have been arrested and are in police custody. The man suffered serious injuries, but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

  24. 'More than 70' immigration offence arrests this month

    Bedfordshire Police have told me that 72 suspected illegal immigrants have been detained in Bedfordshire since 1 June.

    This figure includes six arrests yesterday - two men, aged 20 and 25, from Kuwait who were arrested near Toddington services and two men and two women, suspected to be from Eritrea, detained in Ridgmont and Brogborough.

  26. Police injunction bid 'based on evidence'

    Bedfordshire Police have defended why they applied to the High Court in a bid to ban the leaders of far-right group Britain First from attending a demonstration in Luton tomorrow.

    David Boyle, Ch Supt for local policing at Bedfordshire Police, said they were seeking the injunction "specifically with regards to the behaviour of those two individuals" because "when they've visited Luton in the past [they've] conducted what they call 'mosque invasions'.

    "That caused a huge amount of harassment, alarm and distress to our local Muslim communities."

  27. Police fail in bid to ban Britain First protest leaders

    Bedfordshire Police has failed in its bid to stop the leaders of far-right group Britain First from coming to Luton.

    The High Court has rejected the force's application for an injunction which means Paul Golding and his deputy Jayda Fransen (pictured) will be able to give speeches and take part in a protest being held in the town tomorrow.

    They've been told they cannot display banners which incite racial hatred and must stick to a designated route from the railway station to the town centre.

  32. Ex-Luton striker Ricky Miller to face jury trial

    Former Luton Town striker Ricky Miller is to face a jury trial for a racially-aggravated assault on a taxi driver.

    Mr Miller, 26, of Valence End, Dunstable, was arrested following an alleged incident in Hockliffe, Bedfordshire, last April.

    Appearing at Luton Magistrates' Court on Thursday he did not formerly enter a plea to charges including racially-aggravated common assault and assault by beating and will now stand trial at Luton Crown Court in July.

    Forty children have escaped unharmed after their coach caught fire on the A1M near Stevenage this morning.

  35. Dog-walker stabbed in Bedfordshire

    A woman was stabbed last night in Houghton Regis, near Dunstable, while walking her dog.

    The incident happened at approximately 19:40 in Dolphin Drive when the woman was approached by a man who stabbed her in the arm.

    He is described as black, of medium build, with short black hair and was wearing blue jeans and a grey jacket.

  36. Children escape coach fire unharmed

    Forty children have been evacuated after a coach caught fire on the A1M at J7 just after 09:20 this morning.

    Police and the fire service are on the scene and moving children to a safe place. There are no reported injuries.

  37. More suspected illegal immigrants arrested

    Another two suspected illegal immigrants were arrested near Toddington services yesterday.

    The two men, aged 20 and 25, suspected to be from Kuwait, were arrested and taken into police custody about 14:00. They are now under the care of immigration officers.

    Four others were also arrested on suspicion of immigration offences in Ridgmont and Brogborough. Two males and two females, suspected to be from Eritrea, on the Horn of Africa, are in custody.

  40. Demonstration will bring 'more bad publicity'

    The deputy leader of Luton Borough Council says the march by the far right group Britain First in Luton tomorrow is more unwanted publicity in the wake of a survey about people's perceptions of the town.

    Police in Bedfordshire say two men have been arrested following an "incident involving two drivers" near to J12 of the M1 yesterday afternoon. One of the men was injured.

    A number of road closures were put in place in the Harlington Road (A5120) area just before 16:30.

    Sgt Chris Kent said: "It's certainly not a collision, we're not quite sure what's caused it at the moment or what's led to this incident happening so I can't really clarify too much..."

  45. Police bid to further restrict demonstration

    Bedfordshire Police will be at the High Court today in a bid to place further restrictions on a demonstration by the far right group Britain First in Luton tomorrow.

    If successful, the injunction, under the Anti-Social Behaviour and Crime & Disorder Act 2014, will place restrictions on the behaviour of the group's organisers.

    Police say they expect counter demonstrations and have already imposed conditions on the group.
