Ten of Doctor Who’s Most Romantic Moments

The Doctor Who Team

In honour of the Ponds’ wedding anniversary (June 26th – we hope you sent a card) we throw confetti in the air, caution to the wind and select ten of the most romantic moments in Doctor Who. And yes, we know we’ve missed a few, so why not tweet us at @BBCDoctorWho to tell us which you think we should’ve included!

1. Clara tells Danny she loves him. Admittedly he was killed shortly after, but hey, love hurts.

2. Cyber-Danny saves the world for Clara. As gestures go, it ranks slightly above flowers and a box of chocolates. Good work, soldier.

3. When you meet the girl in the fireplace you know things are going to get hot… Luckily, Rose wasn’t jealous. Not one tiny bit…

4. Donna gets her man and the Doctor’s gift is just the ticket…

5. Amy choosing Rory: it was a heart-breaking but beautiful way to say goodbye to the Ponds and after that final farewell scene the Angels weren’t the only ones weeping.

6. The Doctor (or was it John Smith?) falls in love with Joan showing that sometimes, even Time Lords give in to human nature. (See what we did there?)

7. The Doctor asks how he should say goodbye and River tells him, ‘If you ever loved me, say it like you’re going to come back.’ Without missing a beat the Doctor replies, ‘Well, then… See you around, Professor River Song!’ It’s done with swagger but we reckon his hearts were breaking.

8. Which was the best romantic moment in Voyage of the Damned? The Doctor kissing Astrid farewell or that first smacker when sparks flew. Literally. You decide!

9. That moment on Bad Wolf Bay where Rose tells the Doctor she loves him… You didn’t think we’d forget that, did you?

10. Are we allowed to be cheeky for our last choice? Of course we are! It’s our list! So we’re sneaking in Missy snogging the Time Lord lips off the Doctor! Maybe it’s not romance but if that couple ever got married we want invites to that wedding!
