Stories

Pet Service

To mark the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, patron saints of animals, we go behind the scenes at Ely Cathedral’s 28th animal blessing service. Four hundred animal lovers and their pets have turned out to thank God, and we meet those with a staring role including Daisy the Donkey, Percy the dog and Freda the fifty- year-old tortoise.  And we take a look at some of the animals depicted within the Cathedral architecture.

Shane Filan

Claire McCollum catches up with former Westlife singer Shane Filan as he flies solo in the music industry. He chats with Claire about his music and faith.

Grassmarket

A look at the Grassmarket Community Project in Edinburgh where the homeless and people on the margins of society take part in various activities including a woodwork project, arts, crafts and textile courses. The Grassmarket area is traditionally associated with the homeless and the tradition of supporting vulnerable people goes back to the middle ages and the original Greyfriars Franciscan Friary.
