  2. Philip Heathcote: Family grieves 'awful loss'

    Simon Boon, whose sister Allison Heathcote remains in hospital after Friday's massacre in Tunisia having been shot five times, says his brother-in-law, Philip Heathcote, from Felixstowe, died in the attack.

    He said: "I have spoken to my nephew, James, and Philip has now been identified and confirmed as one of those who sadly died as a result of the shooting.

    "Philip originally comes from Manchester and I am sure his family living there will want to pay their own tributes. The thoughts of our family go out to them all as we, together, grieve this awful loss."

    Philip Heathcote and his wife Allison were in Tunisia to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary when they were shot by a gunman with links to Islamic State extremists.

    Simon Boon, Mrs Heathcote's brother, said Mr Heathcote, from Felixstowe, was killed in the massacre. Mrs Heathcote remains in hospital.

    "For 30 years, Philip has shown my sister love, care and loyalty that was second to none," Mr Boon said. "We will, along with his family in Manchester, deeply grieve this terrible loss."

    Stuart Cullen, 52, from the Lowestoft area, also died during Friday's attack on the beach near Sousse.

  5. Philip Heathcote: Cricket club in 'complete shock'

    A close friend of Philip Heathcote says he was killed in Friday's attack in Tunisia.

    John Bloomfield said Mr Heathcote and his wife Allison, who remains in hospital having been shot in the massacre, were valued members of Felixstowe Cricket Club.

    "The club is in complete shock," Mr Bloomfield said. "They only went on holiday last Wednesday, and to have it all finished for Phil and for Allison to be left as she is, after two days, nobody expects that."

    The Foreign Office and Suffolk Police would not comment on whether Mr Heathcote had died.

    Philip Heathcote, a 53-year-old man from Felixstowe, is believed to have been killed in Friday's attack in Tunisia.

    Mr Heathcote was with his wife Allison, who remains in hospital in Sousse having been shot five times. Mrs Heathcote's brother, Simon Boon, who lives near Diss, told ITV News that Mr Heathcote had been killed.

    The Foreign Office would not comment on the report.

    Demolition work has begun on the Elm Street building, which Ipswich Borough Council was obliged to buy last year after Suffolk police moved out.

    Firefighters were called to a blaze at Medi-Plinth Equipment Ltd earlier on Holywells Road in Ipswich.

  9. Tunisia attack: Felixstowe victims

    A relative of a couple from Felixstowe who were caught up in Friday's attack in Tunisia is due to give a press conference shortly.

    Allison Heathcote, 48, was critically injured in the massacre, and her husband Phil, 53, has not been heard from since.

    Simon Boon, Mrs Heathcote's brother, who lives near Diss, is expected to give an update on both.

    A Suffolk illustrator and printmaker has had her latest worked unveiled in a national newspaper.

    Celia Hart, from Withersfield near Haverhill, has designed the new Daily Telegraph Crest, which is on page 15 of today's paper.

    "It was really quite exciting to see it this morning, and it's quite a relief to see it's there," she said. "It was only being drawn on my computer last Tuesday, so it's been quite a rush job."

  12. Scamnesty: Just 5% of scams reported

    Only 5% of scams in the UK are reported, according to statistics from Suffolk County Council, which has launched a new campaign today with BBC Radio Suffolk.

    About 80 collection bins are being placed around libraries in Suffolk as part of the Scamnesty campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the scams and help authorities trace those responsible.

  13. Ipswich Town... ten pin bowling club

    Larry Carberry said team spirit was vital in Ipswich Town's incredible rise from the third tier of English football to winners of the First Division in 1962, under the guidance of Sir Alf Ramsey (pictured right).

    Speaking in 2012, Carberry, who died on Friday, said: "We had such a good gang of lads, we all mixed well.

    "We had a ten pin bowling team, a darts team, a snooker team, and a table tennis team. I played in them all, so was never at home."

  15. Larry Carberry spotted by Sir Alf while in Army

    Larry Carberry said he signed for Ipswich after being spotted by Town boss Sir Alf Ramsey (pictured left) in Bury St Edmunds, while he was still in the Army.

    Carberry, who died on Friday, told BBC Radio Suffolk's Graeme McLoughlin in 2012: "When I came off the field he was waiting with the manager of the local team and asked me if I'd like to go to Ipswich, so I said yes.

    "That was on Tuesday. He'd fixed it up for me to play for the second team at Leicester on Thursday. He just picked me up, I played the game, then back to the camp. I couldn't believe it."

    Suffolk Fire and Rescue tells me the fire is at a medical aid manufacturer, thought to be Medi-Plinth Equipment Ltd, and the blaze has been contained to that building.

    There is still lots of smoke in the air and local people have been advised to stay inside.

  17. Eyewitness tells of 'red flames coming through roof'

    Helen Davey is an eyewitness to the fire in Holywells Road, and lives on Anchor Street.

    She said: "My neighbour smelt it and came and knocked on my door.

    "Then having looked out, there was just red flames coming out of the top of the roof. The smoke got really, really black, you couldn't see the park from here," she said.

  18. Holywells Road fire: 'Close windows' warning

    Residents near the site of a fire in Ipswich have been warned to keep their windows closed.

    Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire at a commercial premises in Holywells Road.

    A spokesman for the police said: "The road is currently closed between Duke Street and Cliff Lane whilst firefighters tackle the blaze and residents living in the immediate vicinity of the road are being advised to keep their windows closed."

  19. Speedway: Joe Jacobs eyes return

    Speedway star Joe Jacobs is looking to get back into the sport full-time after a successful comeback at one of his old clubs.

    Yesterday afternoon the Ipswich-born rider (pictured centre) won the individual Palmer Trophy meeting at Mildenhall's West Row stadium and is now issuing a "come and get me" message to promoters in the Premier League.

    The 21-year-old has been helping Ipswich Witches' heat leader Rohan Tungate in the pits in recent weeks, but is now keen to return to competitive action having quit the sport in the winter.

  21. Eyewitnesses can see smoke and can hear the sirens

    Eyewitness Alan Cowie, from New Anglia Growth Hub, said: "You can see the building and the smoke from here.

    "I can't see any flames, just smoke and the colour is changing, it's going darker in colour at times which suggests to me that they're trying to put it out."

  25. Newmarket: Man injured in money raid

    A man has been treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital after several thousand pounds in cash was stolen in the early hours this morning at the White Hart Hotel in Newmarket, police say.

    Two men came into the premises via a side entrance about midnight, assaulted the man and forced him to open the safe when they made off with a red cash box.

  29. Larry Carberry had 'tremendous pace'

    The greatest asset of former Ipswich right-back Larry Carberry, who died on Friday, was his speed, according to team-mate John Elsworthy.

    Carberry won the first, second and third division titles with the Blues during the 1950s and 60s and was inducted into the ITFC Hall of Fame in 2010.

    Speaking to independent Ipswich Town website TWTD in 2002, Elsworthy said of Carberry: "His great asset was his speed, tremendous pace had Larry."

    Tributes have been paid to former Ipswich Town defender Larry Carberry, who died on Friday, aged 79.

  32. Tunisia beach attack: Daughter 'told to run'

    Mandy Howlett, from Rushmere near Ipswich, has been telling BBC Radio Suffolk her daughter Becky was staying at the resort, close to where the attack happened.

    She said: "She was sunbathing on loungers with her boyfriend and she said that everybody started to run... one lady just said to her 'run darling, get inside quick'... then she had the information that 27 people had been killed and the gunman was still loose."

    The British death toll is expected to rise above 30, according to David Cameron. All Britons injured in the attack will be returned to the UK within 24 hours, Downing Street said.

  33. Larry Carberry on bonus dispute

    More now on former Ipswich Town defender Larry Carberry, who died on Friday. He enjoyed a successful career with Ipswich Town - winning the top three divisions with the club.

    But the FA cup escaped him, and in an interview with the Telegraph in 2005, Carberry recalled how the side's fifth-round exit in 1959 at the hands of Luton was preceded by a dispute about bonuses.

    "We were all still sitting in our suits quarter of an hour before kick-off," Carberry said. "Alf [Ramsey] said: 'Shall I go out there and tell the crowd there isn't going to be a game?'" We'll be taking a look at some of the tributes being paid to Carberry a little bit later.

    A colleague of the woman injured in the Tunisia beach attack says he is hoping for the best after news that Felixstowe's Allison Heathcote had been shot and is in hospital.

    Norman Atkins, chairman of Two Counties Cricket Championship, says he has worked in the cricket world with Mrs Heathcote, who is currently league secretary, for more than 20 years.

    He said: "All I can say is that I hope everything turns out well. Certainly the more tragic news is that there's no news on her husband," he said.

    Right back Carberry (pictured on the back row, first on the left) was born in Liverpool in 1936 and made 257 appearances for Ipswich between 1956 and 1964, according to Pride of Anglia.

  43. Scamnesty campaign launches

    A new campaign which aims to raise awareness about scams has been launched by BBC Radio Suffolk's Mark Murphy.

    The month-long Scamnesty campaign hopes to highlight how to spot a scam, whether it's via email, post or on the phone, and how people can report suspicious activity.

    Working in partnership with the council's Trading Standards, the campaign will see Scamnesty boxes added to libraries around the county. People can dump their suspected scam mail for authorities to inspect.

  44. Tunisia beach attack: Family 'grateful for compassion'

    Stuart Cullen, 52, from Lowestoft, was among those who died in the Tunisian attack where it has emerged the British death toll will rise above 30.

    "Mr Cullen was believed to have died instantly and was with his wife at the time," police said. Mrs Cullen received injuries during the incident but has now returned to the county.

    "When they arrived she hadn't... it was the person in the room next to her - she'd [Allison] been shot five times, three times in the abdomen and twice in the shoulder, she's undergone six hours of surgery to have her shoulder rebuilt."
