Keeping Scots language strong
Hamish MacDonald is a man with a one-of-a-kind job: he is the newly appointed Scots Scriever and his role is to produce creative work in Scots - the variant of English that has developed over many centuries in Scotland. “I luik forwart tae workin wae communities throughoot Scotland in gie’in voice tae this vibrant language which, whether spoken or written, deserves tae be celebrated everywhere, ” he writes. Here he reads his own poem Nae Fizz Izzy.
