Football's anti-discrimination group Kick It Out has launched a major exercise to tackle abuse at grass-roots level.

The campaign will see a three-month consultation exercise with players, coaches, parents and referees about their experiences of discrimination in grass-roots football, and about the reporting process for cases and how incidents are handled.

"It is important that people are aware of discrimination and its effects across all levels of the game and this consultation will help us better deliver our messages of equality and inclusion," says Roisin Wood, director of Kick It Out.

Kick It Out is also looking for volunteers to take part in a three-month pilot scheme at grass-roots level in Birmingham, Essex and West Yorkshire from August.

Bristol City's match against Bradford, which could see the League One leaders clinch promotion, will be like a "cup final", says defender Derrick Williams.

The Robins, who are 13 points clear of third, will return to the Championship after a two-year absence with victory at Valley Parade on Tuesday.

"We've worked hard all season, I think we deserve it now," ex-Aston Villa man Williams, 22, told BBC Radio Bristol.

"We've just got to keep doing what we're doing. Tuesday is a massive one."

Bournemouth midfielder Andrew Surman is looking to end a whirlwind few days by helping the club take another step towards promotion.

Surman's wife had their third child on Friday morning.

A few hours later he helped the Championship leaders earn a vital three points at Brighton and the Cherries travel to Reading on Tuesday.

"(We had) a daughter, who we are really proud of, and a great win," Surman told BBC Radio Solent.

Formula 1 driver Jules Bianchi's fight to recover from injuries sustained in a crash last year is the equivalent of "running a marathon every day", according to his father.

Bianchi, 25, remains in a coma, six months after the accident in Japan.

"The only thing we can say is that he's fiercely fighting as he always did, before and after the accident," Philippe Bianchi said. "From a medical point of view, his condition is stable."

The Marussia driver crashed into a recovery vehicle at the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Any defence who might be hoping they have seen the last of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba might want to think again.

The Ivorian, who is out of contract at the end of the season, intends to carry on playing next season.

Asked if he had decided on his future, Drogba said: "Yes I have and it's not going to be my last season."

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter says his side must not get carried away by their 21-10 victory over Premiership leaders Northampton.

The win sent Exeter back into the top four with three games left to play as the Chiefs became the first side to do the double over Saints this season.

"The time to enjoy today isn't today. The time to enjoy today is a few weeks time when we see whether we've achieved things at the end of the season," Baxter told BBC Radio Devon.

Patrick Reed is the latest top player to confirm their entry for the Irish Open at Royal County Down in May.

The world number 14 from Texas has won four PGA Tour titles, including a one-stroke victory in the 2014 WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral.

Reed, 24, showed passion and aggression in the Ryder Cup last September as he starred for the losing US team, with the rookie unbeaten over three days.

There's nothing like gloating after a derby win and Manchester United winger Ashley Young has been doing just that after his side's win over Manchester City.

"We wanted to keep our noisy neighbours quiet, and we quietened them down straight away (after their goal)," he told MUTV.

"As you can imagine the atmosphere in the dressing room was electric. A win in the derby, especially in the way we did it, meant there were fantastic celebrations."

So what about playing Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday? Young added: "We feel we can beat anyone on our day."

Ferrari are putting the dominant Mercedes under pressure in Formula 1 and the Italian team's driver Kimi Raikkonen is hopeful of overtaking the German outfit.

"I don't see a reason why not," says Raikkonen. "We have made big gains and we will continue to make big gains during this year."

He adds: "Sebastian [Vettel] showed we can win (in Malaysia last month), but it depends as one circuit may be better for one team and the next could be a different story.

"We just need to be up there when something happens to them, or the conditions change, but I really feel on speed we will get there to regularly beat them."

Rangers boss Stuart McCall has urged his side to cut out sloppy mistakes as they head for a "thrilling" Championship season finale.

They beat Raith Rovers 4-0 on Sunday to stay third, behind Hibernian on goal difference. Whoever finishes second will face one fewer play-off game.

"I think we can still do better," McCall told BBC Radio Scotland.

"I thought there were periods in the second half where, because it was 2-0, we were a bit sloppy and casual."

Wigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane does not think his side are playing well despite sitting third in Super League with a 100% home record.

Last year's losing Grand Finalists ran in eight tries as they beat Catalans 34-0 at the DW Stadium on Sunday.

"We're not playing well," Wane told BBC Radio Manchester.

"Today was a good performance, and I thought we managed to win well, but we're not playing anywhere near to the standard I know we can."

Portsmouth chairman Iain McInnes says the decision to part company with manager Andy Awford was the hardest of his two-year reign at Fratton Park.

Awford, 42, left his job on Monday after a season in charge of the League Two club and is the third manager to leave Fratton Park under McInnes.

"It's been a bad day," McInnes told BBC Radio Solent. "An awful day".

Bayern Munich will be without midfielders Bastian Schweinsteiger and Franck Ribery when they travel to Porto for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Frenchman Ribery is not yet fully fit following a five-week absence with an ankle injury while Schweinsteiger has had a virus for the past few days.

Former Premier League footballer Delroy Facey went on trial accused of match fixing.

During the prosecution's opening speech at Birmingham Crown Court, Nicholas Mather spoke of the so-called beautiful game's ugly side - but pointed out that this particular case focused not on the top level but the lower reaches.

Former England striker Emile Heskey is hoping to earn a new contract for next season with Championship side Bolton.

The 37-year-old former Liverpool, Birmingham, Wigan and Aston Villa forward is contracted until the end of the season and has scored once in 14 games for Neil Lennon's side.

More Masters fallout. It's not quite Rambo but Tiger Woods injured his right hand in his final round on Sunday after appearing to hit a hidden tree root when playing his second shot out of the pine straw on the ninth.

"A bone kind of popped out and a joint went out of place but I put it back in," explained Woods.

"It hurt. It definitely hurt. I didn't know there was a tree root there. I drove my hand or drove the club straight into it. It didn't move. But my body kept moving.

"There was a little joint that popped out and I was able to somehow put it back in, which didn't feel very good, but at least it got back in and I could move my hand again."

Sunrisers Hyderabad - the team Kevin Pietersen was set to play for before deciding to sign for Surrey as he attempts to earn an England comeback - are in action against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Wojciech Szczesny can use his battle with David Ospina for Arsenal's number one jersey to make himself a better goalkeeper, according to former Gunner David Seaman.

Four wickets fell, including Hamish Marshall for zero, but Gareth Roderick's 56 steadied the ship and it was a surprise when he was comprehensively bowled by Azharullah.

New skipper Geraint Jones is unbeaten on 60. He started explosively but settled down towards the end of the afternoon and if he carries on then his team will be looking towards a first innings lead by the close of play.

BBC Radio Wales Nick Webb at Leicester: Leicestershire reached a belated tea on 59-1 against Glamorgan after the Welsh county ran up a mammoth 513-9 declared in their first innings.

The visitors added a further 92 after lunch in double-quick time as David Lloyd reached a career-best 59 not out while Andy Carter thrashed an unorthodox 21 not out, also a career best.

Ollie Freckingham and Atif Sheikh had the consolation of three wickets apiece for Leicestershire. The home side lost Dan Redfern for 24, caught off Graham Wagg, but survived without further alarms to the interval.

New York Mets player Jenrry Mejia has been suspended for 80 games without pay after testing positive for the banned steroid stanozolol.

The pitcher, 25, will not be able to play again until July and would be ineligible for the Major League play-offs if the Mets qualify.

"I know the rules are the rules and I will accept my punishment," Mejia said.

"But I can honestly say I have no idea how a banned substance ended up in my system."

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho will be out for between three and four weeks with a hamstring injury.

The France international will miss tonight's Premier League match with Newcastle, the FA Cup semi-final with Aston Villa at Wembley on Sunday and league games against West Brom, Hull and QPR.

Liverpool are hopeful he could be back for the trip to Chelsea on 10 May. Sakho limped out of the FA Cup quarter-final replay win over Blackburn last Wednesday, and scan results have now revealed the full extent of the injury.

The Reds play Newcastle tonight in the Premier League (20:00 BST).

Queens Park Rangers say they will ban "indefinitely" any fans who threw missiles during their 1-0 defeat by Chelsea at Loftus Road on Sunday.

Coins and plastic bottles were among objects thrown towards the pitch after Cesc Fabregas's 88th-minute winner.

CCTV footage of the incident is being reviewed by the club, who say they will liaise with police.

"This is not the kind of behaviour the club condones in any way, shape or form," a spokesperson said.

It hasn't started well for England against West Indies. Opener Jonathan Trott has been caught behind off Jerome Taylor in the first over as he goes for a three-ball duck. England are 1-1.

Compliments in the game of golf don't come much more precious than those from Jack Nicklaus and he has praised Jordan Spieth after the 21-year-old's Masters win.

"That was an incredible performance," says six-time Masters champion Nicklaus in a statement.

"I like everything about the young man. He's polite. He's humble. He handles himself so well, on and off the golf course. And he's obviously a wonderful player and now a Masters champion.

Northampton Saints head coach Jim Mallinder does not want the Premiership leaders to change their style of play despite suffering back-to-back defeats.

Having exited the European Champions Cup after a 37-5 loss to Clermont Auvergne, they were defeated 21-10 by Exeter in the Premiership on Sunday.

"We want our players to play with ambition and move the ball," Mallinder told BBC Radio Northampton.

"We just have to make sure that, at the right times, we look after the ball."

Middlesbrough are fourth in the Championship but just two points off top spot. Boro play Wolves on Tuesday before games against Norwich, Fulham and Brighton and manager Aitor Karanka wants a 100% points haul to help the club achieve automatic promotion into the Premier League.

"We have to win our games," Karanka told the Middlesbrough Gazette. "I think by winning four games we will get promotion, but it is very difficult.

"We have to forget the other teams and just concentrate on our games. We will prepare to win each game but you never know.

"At this stage of the season every single point is important."

Patrick Bamford has apologised to Middlesbrough strike partner Kike for missing a penalty they argued over near the end of Saturday's 2-0 Championship win against Rotherham.

Spanish striker Kike was fouled inside the box during injury time, prompting his claims to take the spot-kick but Bamford took it as the designated taker.

"It's all sorted. I spoke to Kike and apologised," Bamford told BBC Tees.

"If I'd scored it would have been fine but the goalkeeper has made a good save, it's one of those things. If you take penalties you'll miss some, and I felt bad missing it."

Rotherham have been charged by the Football League with fielding an ineligible player.

Defender Farrend Rawson, on loan from Derby County, played the full 90 minutes as the Millers beat Brighton 1-0 earlier this month.

The Football League said a football disciplinary commission will hear the case at the "earliest possible opportunity" so the matter is resolved before the end of the season.

Rotherham are 21st in the Championship.

The 2015 British Basketball League Play-off final at London's O2 Arena on 10 May is to be shown live on the BBC Sport website and BBC Red Button.

It is the league's showpiece event and the finale of an eight-month season.

Manchester City have lost five Premier League games in 2015, one more than in the whole of 2014, and it seems their focus is now on a top-four finish to qualify for next season's Champions League rather than keeping their top-flight crown.

Openers Sam Robson and Nick Gubbins then added 51 together without any inconvenience before Harry Gurney bowled Gubbins for 23. South African Vernon Philander, on his Notts debut, struck a vital blow by then removing Nick Compton to leave the home side on 70-2.

Middlesex are likely to be without Dawid Malan for the remainder of the match after x-rays confirmed that he'd broken a finger whilst fielding on the first day.

Borthwick fell agonisingly six runs short of century after a fluent innings of 94 from 110 deliveries that included 17 boundaries. Somerset's Jamie Overton has been bowling with impressive pace in front of national selector James Whittaker.

Despite the loss of two wickets, Durham have progressed their score on at a good rate and trail by just 77. Durham 224-2 at lunch.

This is an interesting one... The French state railway company SNCF has called for police action against cyclists in the Paris-Roubaix spring classic who crossed tracks with a safety barrier down, seconds before a high speed train arrived.

The incident happened at a crossing in northern France during Sunday's race.

The SNCF has issued a statement calling for "several riders" to be prosecuted for acting "against all safety rules". Race organisers have said the seven riders could not stop in time.

"Millions of television viewers saw live this extremely serious and irresponsible action which could have been tragic," said SNCF.

Wales captain Sam Warburton says Cardiff Blues will need to be at their best to beat Welsh rivals Ospreys in the Pro12 at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, 25 April.

Flanker Warburton, 26, was skipper as 10th-placed Blues were thrashed 36-17 away in Glasgow on Friday.

Title challengers Ospreys won 33-13 away at Italian side Treviso.

"It's going to take a huge performance to get a result - one of our best of the season," said Warburton.

Chelsea will face Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Women's Cup.

The Blues, who currently sit top of Women's Super League One, knocked out holders Arsenal on Sunday, while City beat 2012 winners Birmingham City.

In the other tie, last year's beaten finalists Everton, the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, will face WSL 1 side Notts County.

Everton beat third-tier Charlton on penalties in their quarter-final, while Notts County thrashed Aston Villa 5-1.

There's a lot of focus on the Manchester City players for their part in the club's recent poor form and their performance in the 4-2 derby loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

Asked if the players were still playing for City boss Manuel Pellegrini, BBC Sport football pundit Phil Neville tells MOTD3: "I think they are.

"The problem I see with Man City is that everyone keeps seeing it in the big games, tactically they get it wrong. They play 4-4-2, they get outnumbered in midfield, everybody sees it but they haven't changed it.

"For a period in the game on Sunday they did, they played James Milner in midfield, they looked solid, they looked like they were strong, and then they lose a goal.

"All of a sudden they get ragged, they lose their discipline, they lose their shape and, for me, that's the biggest worry, that under extreme pressure and when things go wrong they folded a little bit and if I was Pellegrini I'd be really concerned about that."

Jimmy White is keeping alive his hopes of not only reaching the World Championship but finally winning it too as he leads Matt Selt 4-1 in the best-out-of-19 qualifier.

Not such good news for Steve Davis, as he is 4-0 down to Norway's Kurt Maflin and Belgian Luca Brecel is 5-0 down to Andrew Higginson.

Eve Muirhead's rink secured their second grand slam triumph of the season by winning the Players' Championship in Toronto.

Muirhead, along with Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Sarah Reid, defeated Russian skip Anna Sidorova's rink 4-2 in Sunday's final.

"It's been a season of inconsistencies but we just really dug in," said Sloan. "It showed that we are a strong side and that we're here to compete."

This Players' Championship crown adds to Team Muirhead's win at the Colonial Square Ladies Classic in November.

Guernsey FC have underachieved this season according to manager Tony Vance.

The Green Lions went down 1-0 at home to Hythe Town in their penultimate game at Footes Lane to stay 10th in the Isthmian League Division One South.

"We had some good possession but didn't do the right things to break them down and when we did break them down we weren't ruthless enough," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"That's why we've finished where we have, we've underachieved this season."

The 42-year-old, a former Pompey defender, replaced Richie Barker in March 2014 and won five out of six games, with the other drawn, to steer Pompey to League Two safety.

But this season has been more of a struggle for the 2008 FA Cup winners and their minimal League Two play-off hopes were ended by a 3-1 defeat at Morecambe on Saturday.

In a statement, Pompey said: "The club would like to place on record their sincere thanks for Andy's efforts - his service to Pompey is immeasurable."

Andy Awford has left his position as Portsmouth manager by mutual consent with the club 14th in League Two.

Assistant manager Gary Waddock has been placed in temporary charge until the end of the season with four games left of the current campaign.

It is symbolic as it will be the culmination of the 'put out your bats' gesture that generated interest around the world in the wake of the cricketer's death in November 2014.

Kevin Pietersen might be dominating the headlines but England captain Alastair Cook has ordered his side to concentrate on cricket and nothing else as they begin a punishing run of 14 Test matches in 10 months.

Cook's team face West Indies on Monday in the first of three Tests, starting at 15:00 BST, during an uncertain period in English cricket and after a disastrous World Cup.

West Indian batting legend Sir Viv Richards believes it is "a great opportunity to take England down".

But Cook said: "We must concentrate on what we control, which is the cricket."

Masters champion Jordan Spieth says he is relishing a future rivalry with Rory McIlroy after winning his first major.

Spieth, 21, broke several scoring records in his four-stroke victory over Justin Rose and Phil Mickelson to claim the only major McIlroy is yet to win.

"He's got four majors, something I can only dream about," said Spieth, who finished six shots clear of McIlroy.

The City Hall of Paris officially backed a likely bid for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games after a vote by the City Council on Monday.

It is now up to the French National Olympic Committee to formally declare the candidacy before the 15 September deadline.

Paris, which last hosted the Summer Games in 1924, lost bids to stage the 1992, 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

Boston, Hamburg and Rome have already launched their bids for the 2024 Games.

Manchester City's loss at Manchester United consigned them to five away defeats on the trot as they have gone out of the Champions League to Barcelona and seen their Premier League title defence fall away.

The County Championship season began yesterday, and champions Yorkshire made a solid start to the defence of their title at Worcestershire.

Worcestershire will resume on 264-8 this morning, against a Yorkshire side significantly weakened as they have six players on international duty with England.

More fallout from the derby. Manchester City were left fourth in the Premier League after their defeat by arch rivals Manchester United and are five points ahead of fifth-placed Southampton and seven in front of Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

BBC Sport pundit Phil Neville: "The pressure is mounting massively [on Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini] because the results are going in the wrong direction.

"His team have lost momentum, they are now looking over their shoulder maybe at Liverpool, who play against Newcastle. If they win that they are thinking can they catch Man City.

"So going from a strength of can we win the league to now thinking can we finish in the top four, I don't think that's good enough for a club like Man City. With players they've got. The players aren't performing but I think the manager sometimes, particularly with his tactics, are letting his team down."

It's kicked off again. Lewis Hamilton claimed victory in Sunday's China Grand Grand Prix but his second-placed team-mate Nico Rosberg was not happy in the manner the Briton achieved his victory.

The German felt race Hamilton was driving unnecessarily slowly, backing him up into the chasing Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel.

Rosberg said it was "frustrating" and put them under "unnecessary pressure".

Hamilton responded to the accusation he had done it on purpose by saying: "That's absolutely not the case."
