  12. Another close final!

What is it with me and penalty shoot-outs?

The final was made up of Liverpool Feds (the overall winners last year) and Manchester Galaxy, who had stood out throughout and played out a tight draw in the group stages....

Like yesterday in Coventry the two sides played out a tense affair with Manchester Galaxy taking the lead with a powerful strike into the top right corner.

Not to be outdone Liverpool Feds showed their class and equalised with a well-worked team goal leading to a final score of 1-1.

The two teams in the final.

Both teams confidently buried their opening two penalties. Taking Manchester Galaxy's third penalty was captain Emily Bradshaw who kept her nerve and put her side 3-2. That's how the score finished as Liverpool struck their remaining penalty over the bar.

  14. Bringing nations together

    What's in a name?

When a group of Business Management students from Portsmouth University were deciding what to call their team, they didn't have to go far for inspiration.

Between them they hail from Nigeria, Libya, Ghana and Zimbabwe so the logical team name was African Republic

  19. It goes down to the wire

Football at it's best in this nail-biting finish by the U16 Boys in Coventry

    Alex Ewing

    BBC Get Inspired

And here's Alex's match report from last night.....

It was a dramatic end to the evenings play in Coventry as Stratford Town and Young Fire Old Flame battled out a tough U16 final.

The two teams edged out Clifford Park Rangers to reach the final. It was always going to be a close game as the teams fought out a tight game in the group stage with Young fire old flame stealing it 2-1. The final looked like the game was destined for the same result as the bigger and stronger Young fire old flame lead with only minutes left.

However, cometh the hour, cometh the man as Stratford's captain fantastic Callum produced a goal that both Ronaldo and Messi would be proud of. He danced around the tiring opposition as if they weren't there - think of a classic Lionel run before unleashing a vicious Ronqldo-esque strike into the bottom left corner to take the final to a penalty shoot out.

5-aside law stats that in a tie breaker situation comes down to the best of three penalties before going to sudden death. After a confident penalty shoot out the lads entered sudden death.

Boldly, Stratford Town chose their keeper to take their forth penalty rather than their remaining outfield player. Were they trying to get into the heads of Young Fire Old Flame? Was the gamble going to pay off?!

Up stepped the keeper, Jay - who had been trying to get into the oppositions head, think Bruce Grobbelaar or Jerzy Dudek v AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final - coolly slotted into the bottom left corner.

But could the Jay-of-all-trades become an instant hero and save a penalty to grab a victory?

After trying to get into the head of the opposition, he brilliantly flung himself to the right and saved the penalty to win the tournament. So like Dudek in Istanbul, his tactics worked and Stratford Town are off to the next round.

Stratford Town, winners of the U16 tournament in Coventry.

A big shout out to Joe from Clifford Park Rangers who was the under-16s player of the tournament. He was quality in all four of his games!

Joe the player of the under-16s tournament in Coventry.
