Gary Speed's father: 'I am a proud, proud man'
The father of the late Gary Speed, Roger, says he is “made up for Chris Coleman and his Wales players on achieving qualification for Euro 2016, the country’s first major tournament since 1958."
Coleman took the Wales manager’s job in January 2012, two months after Speed’s death.
Speed’s father also recalled an emotional moment prior to their qualifier against Israel last month.
“I was in tears, they were singing the national anthem – and I’m English,” he said. “Then Gary’s favourite song, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. If you can’t win with those supporters behind you there’s something wrong.”
