    Kat Cowan

    Reporter, BBC Radio Sheffield

Bosses at an industrial electronics firm Rotherham have been accused of bullying workers and forcing them to accept an unfair pay offer.

The Unite union, which claims to represent about a quarter of the 650 workers at Kostal UK Ltd in Goldthorpe, says management are using "divide and rule" tactics to get workers to sign up to the deal.

They also say the company is ignoring the fact that more than 80% of the workforce recently voted for collective bargaining in a ballot run by the conciliation service, Acas.

The union now plans to ballot its members for strike action.

The company has not yet responded to the BBC's requests for a comment.

  9. Team at University of Sheffield helps solve scientific mystery 100 years in making

    Jenny Cork

    BBC Sheffield, Local Live

    Einstein was right!

100 years ago he theorised that waves rippled through space like a pond, transporting energy across the universe.

Scientists have been trying to prove he was right for years

But they've never been able to detect these waves in space - until now.

Ripples in the fabric of space-time

The gravitational waves were finally detected on 14 September 2015 by both of the twin Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) detectors, in Livingston, Louisiana, and Hanford, Washington, USA.

Doctor Ed Daw, from the University of Sheffield’s Department of Physics and Astronomy, is part of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration that made the discovery.

He has been researching gravitational waves with LIGO since 1998.
