'Irreplaceable' items stolen in Solent Sky Museum burglary

A cigarette case that belonged to RJ Mitchell, the designer of the Spitfire, has been stolen in a burglary at a museum.
The case was among a number of irreplaceable items taken from the Solent Sky Museum in Southampton.
Police said thieves broke into the building in Albert Road South on Monday 9 March, some time between 20:45 and 22:45 GMT.
The museum showcases the history of aviation in Southampton and the Solent.
PC John Woodfield, of Hampshire Constabulary, said: "Solent Sky is a charity-run aircraft museum in Southampton.
"The offenders have specifically targeted the rare pieces within the museum and made off with some irreplaceable items.
"It is possible that the offenders may try and sell these items on. Please contact us if you see anything for sale that you think may have been stolen from the museum."
