Notts County have recalled defender Scot Bennett from his loan spell at League Two rivals Newport County.

But the Welsh club have extended Aston Villa defender Janoi Donacien's loan until the end of the season.

Bennett's return to Notts comes after Newport boss John Sheridan described reports linking him with the managerial vacancy at Meadow Lane as "hearsay" earlier on Thursday.

Newport host Hartlepool in League Two on Saturday, 2 January.

The Exiles lie 20th in the table and were in the relegation zone when Bennett, 25, arrived in October.
