A 13-year-old boy has admitted murdering a man in a row about a party in north London.

Christopher Barry, 53, was stabbed in the chest at his home in The Broadway, Edmonton on 14 December.

He had argued with a group of youths trying to get into a party at a flat in the block where he lived. He was followed into the building and attacked, the Old Bailey heard.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced on 10 April.

He was remanded in youth custody by judge Anthony Morris.

Mr Barry, a builder from Cobh, County Cork who was known as Jack, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Det Ch Insp Neale Baldock said at the time: "The victim and this group were not known to each other - what started as a minor verbal altercation has escalated into a shocking act of violence."
