Waving from a broken boat: On board a migrant rescue ship in the Aegean Sea

In January alone, more than 50,000 migrants have made the perilous sea crossing from Turkey to Greece - a 35-fold increase from this time last year.

In the same period, 250 people have drowned attempting the journey.

The BBC's James Reynolds has been on board a rescue boat in the Aegean Sea.
