  1. Post update

Next up for England then is Italy away in Turin on Tuesday. No mentions of the Italian Job please - alright?

We'll see you there, and we will of course have full coverage of the rest of the Euro 2016 qualifiers all weekend. Goodnight!

  2. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

England captain Wayne Rooney tells BBC Radio 5 live about Harry Kane's impact: "It's a great lift for the nation.

"He's scoring goals in the Premier League and now he's doing it at international level.

"We're a close group of players, we're all excited to have him with us and we want him to do well."

  3. Post update

    Trouble in Montenegro

More info on the abandoned qualifier between Montenegro and Russia tonight.

The game was delayed by 35 minutes when Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was hit in the head by a flare soon after kick-off. Midway through the second half a scuffle ensued between players by the touchline.

The score was 0-0 at the time and German referee Deniz Aytekin ordered the players back into the dressing room for the second time moments after Montenegro keeper Vukasin Poleksic saved a Roman Shirokov penalty.

  4. Player reaction

    England 4-0 Lithuania

    Harry Kane

England striker Harry Kane tells BBC Radio 5 live: "I'm just proud. A dream come true.

"I's a special night and definitely one I won't forget. It's what you dream of as a kid, it's a bit of a daze and enjoying every minute of it.

"I've worked hard to be here. It's been a great week. I was excited to play and to score is a dream come true.

"The boss made his decision and I had to get on with it and when called upon be ready. To be able to repay the fans is amazing."

  5. Manager reaction

    England 4-0 Lithuania

Roy Hodgson on BBC 5 live: "You can only beat what's in front of you. We had to work hard to wear them down in the first half and we got our reward in the second half when they tired.

"Our major test will be when we get to France and I'm convinced we'll get there. We've got a year and bit to work with them and this team are so young."

  6. Who's missing?

    England 4-0 Lithuania

England manager Roy Hodgson says Leighton Baines, Raheem Sterling, James Milner and Danny Welbeck will miss Tuesday's friendly against Italy. Left-back Ryan Bertrand has been "invited" to join the squad.

  7. Post update

There are reports that the game between Russia and Montenegro has now been abandoned because of crowd trouble. More on that when we get it.

  8. Manager reaction

    England 4-0 Lithuania

England manager Roy Hodgson tells BBC 5 live: "It's good Harry gets his chance and grabs it with both hands - it adds that bit of magic to the evening.

"In this way of playing, he competes with Wayne Rooney. To get him in the team we would have to change our way our way of playing. We can do that but the players are suited to the way we're playing at the moment.

"We've got so many good players I feel whoever I put in will do a good job. Everyone's trying to be a good unit."

  9. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

England manager Roy Hodgson says that Ryan Bertrand has been invited to join the squad for Tuesday's friendly in Italy, while James Milner and Leighton Baines are returning home.

  10. 'We should just be happy'

    England 4-0 Lithuania

Asked whether Harry Kane has shown that he is a natural goalscorer at international level, England manager Roy Hodgson told ITV Sport: "I think it's too early to put this pressure on Harry Kane.

"We should just be happy that he has done so well for Tottenham and made a name for himself to get into the England set-up.

"That's not easy to do as we have a number of good forwards but let's be happy with that and leave the future predictions to the future."

  11. 'It's nice when fairy-tales come true'

    England 4-0 Lithuania

    Wayne Rooney

England manager Roy Hodgson told ITV Sport: "It's fantastic for Harry Kane and we're delighted for him. It's a bit of a fairy-tale but it's nice when fairy-tales come true and it has come true for Harry. He has had a wonderful season and crowned his debut with a well-taken goal."

On injuries to Danny Welbeck and Raheem Sterling, Hodgson added: "It is two blows for us. Raheem Sterling was waiting for an injection on his toe - he has been waiting for a while. I agreed with Brendan (Rodgers) that he would play tonight as it was the qualifier but he will now have the injection.

"If we're unlucky we will lose him and Danny Welbeck (for the game against Italy on Tuesday). They're important players in the system we're trying to play, but it will give opportunities for other players."

  13. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

As I said earlier on, it's always a dangerous game comparing players from different eras.

But if you're interested, Sir Bobby Charlton scored his record 49 England goals from 106 caps, Gary Lineker scored 48 in just 80 and Wayne Rooney now has 47 goals in 102 caps.

  14. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

    Danny Mills

BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

On Wayne Rooney's goalscoring record: "Wayne Rooney can't go and play Italy every week, he plays against teams like Lithuania and he scores. You can't blame him for that.

"It doesn't mean he is better than Sir Bobby Charlton and Gary Lineker."

  15. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

    Chris Waddle

BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

"I like Daniel Sturridge but he seems to pick these injuries. He's not really had the rub of the green in that respect. When he plays, he's suited to international football because he's got good technique and pace.

"He's another one you would think would get into this team."

  16. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

England boss Roy Hodgson also confirms that Raheem Sterling and Danny Welbeck are likely to miss Tuesday's game in Italy.

Sterling was always due to miss the game, but Welbeck has picked up an unspecified injury.

  17. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

    Chris Waddle

BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

"We qualify well because you have these teams in your group. There's always two or three that you should be battering.

"It's when you go to tournaments you'll be judged and in the in the last two or three we haven't turned up."

  18. Post update

    England 4-0 Lithuania

Roy Hodgson says he is delighted for Harry Kane and 'it's nice when fairytales come true.'

    Full reaction to come.

  19. 'Teams will be frightened of us'

    England 4-0 Lithuania

    Wayne Rooney

England captain Wayne Rooney, who has now scored 47 international goals, told ITV Sport: "Harry Kane came on and international football is different but to score after 80 seconds is incredible for him.

"I was disappointed with the first one (of two shots that hit the woodwork) and I got a bit of a shove as I hit it. But I'm happy to score and to get the win, it's a big three points for us.

"Since the World Cup we have been fantastic. We've had some great victories, are scoring goals and we have real energy around the team.

"A lot of teams will be looking at this team around Europe and will be frightened."

  24. 'Not a bad start'

    England 4-0 Lithuania

    Harry Kane

England striker Harry Kane, who scored within 80 seconds of his international debut, told ITV Sport: "It's not a bad start. I dreamed of this and it's just a bit of a blur at the moment. I'm delighted for the lads.

"It's the best moment of my career . To represent my country at senior level is the top and hopefully I can continue to keep doing it and hopefully this goal is the first of many."

Belarus beat Macedonia 2-1 in a bad-tempered match in Skopje.

Austria remain in control of Group G after a 4-0 win over Liechtenstein, with Sweden still four points behind after a 2-0 win in Moldova thanks to a brace from striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Martin Harnik and Marc Janko were both on target for the visitors. Moldova are currently goalless with Sweden while Russia's clash with Montenegro in Podgorica has now restarted following a delay after visiting goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was struck on the head by a flare.

He's scored 45 more goals since. Four penalties, eight from outside the area and 10 with his head.

Steve Howes: Why does Roy waste his energy going to watch games, He is not going to pick form players but he will always pick Rooney.

Shaun Williamson: Didn't Hodgson say he would be the manager to pick on form rather than reputation?! What does Kane have to do? Terrible!

Ben Storrie: Welbeck over Kane because it's a qualifier and Roy wants a player he can rely upon. Opposition irrelevant. Sensible management.

  170. A record breaker?

    England v Lithuania (19:45 GMT)

It is a record which has stood for 45 years, but by this time next week we could well have a new name in the record books.

Sir Bobby Charlton's haul of 49 goals for England looked certain to be broken by Gary Lineker in the early 1990s, and then by Michael Owen in the 2000s.

But while injury and loss of form scuppered their bids, there looks to be nothing capable of stopping Wayne Rooney from breaking the record.

    Rooney

The 29-year-old currently has 46 goals for his country, three short of the record. It is getting on for 12 years since his first...

Spain face an important clash with Ukraine in Seville which could have a major bearing on who qualifies from Group C. The two nations are level on nine points, three points behind leaders Slovakia who welcome Luxembourg to Zilina. Macedonia versus Belarus is the pool's other clash.

Group G leaders Austria travel to the Rheinpark in Vaduz to face Liechtenstein, who recorded a surprise 1-0 away win over Moldova back in November. England manager Roy Hodgson talks to Sky Sports News on his decision not to start Harry Kane: "It was tempting, he's trained really well with us this week.

"He's got a long career in front of him.

"It was important to get him in and get his feet under the table to see what it's all about.

"I'm sure he'll make his debut if not tonight, then on Tuesday against Italy. Time is very much on his side."

    Czech Republic U21 v England U21 (19:30 GMT)

England Under-21 coach Gareth Southgate has named his team for their friendly against the Czech Republic, the hosts of this summer's Under-21 European Championship, in Prague.

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, who has won three caps for the senior side, is named in the starting line-up along with Southampton duo James Ward-Prowse and Matt Targett.

Fulham's Cauley Woodrow starts up front following injuries to West Brom's Saido Berahino, Middlesbrough's on-loan Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford and Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson. Burnley's Danny Ings is on the bench.

England U21 XI: Bettinelli, Chambers, Keane, Moore, Targett, Ward-Prowse, Forster-Caskey, Redmond, Carroll, Pritchard, Woodrow.

  186. Red or brown Roy?

    England v Lithuania (19:45 GMT)

    Red sauce

Roy Hodgson's decision to leave Harry Kane out tonight may be kicking up a storm - but his decision to restore ketchup to the menu has made the England camp a happier place than it was under Fabio Capello, according to Everton defender Phil Jagielka.

Hodgson replaced Capello in May 2012. The 67-year-old's informal manner is in contrast to the Italian's more authoritarian style.

"There can be too many rules," said Jagielka. "If Fabio didn't want anyone to have ketchup there was no ketchup. Roy allows us ketchup if we want."

At the 2010 World Cup, England's players had to plead with Capello to be allowed a beer after a woeful goalless draw with Algeria in Cape Town.

"It would be a major shock if they did not make it five from five here tonight against Lithuania. BBC Sport

    Harry Kane

"Even before Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge pulled out because of injury, I said that Harry Kane should start against Lithuania.

"One of the reasons I think that is because he has got the confidence to go into the England set-up and straightaway believe that he belongs at that level.

"He wants the chance to prove himself. I was the same, and I can understand why he has been compared to me.

"I am a huge fan of his and what I love about him is that he scores all types of goals and does not care about the reputations of whoever is marking him.

"He has got a great touch, heading ability, can mix it physically and his finishing is top class."

England manager Roy Hodgson is confident he will not be surprised by Lithuania tonight ahead of the first ever meeting of the sides.

Lithuania, currently ranked 94th in the world, won their first two qualifying games, against San Marino and Estonia, but have since lost 2-0 at home to Slovenia and 4-0 away to Switzerland.

Hodgson said: "We have been through Lithuania's style of play and we think we know enough about them.

    Harry Kane

There's only one name on the agenda going into tonight's game. Harry Kane has been a revelation this season. From out on loan and filling in for the Europa League to main man and the Premier League's most dangerous striker. What a year.

Not good enough to earn a starting role tonight though. We expect Kane to be on the bench.

  197. How it stands

    England v Lithuania (19:45 GMT)

    Group E table

So far, so good for England in qualifying for Euro 2016. With the tournament expanding to 24 teams, the top two from each group qualify.

The third-placed side with the most points (discarding those earned against the team finishing sixth in groups as one group has five teams) will also make it.

This leaves eight other teams who have finished third in a group to play off over two legs to provide another four sides.

  198. A perfect record

    England v Lithuania (19:45 GMT)

    Roy Hodgson

Roy Hodgson is a happy man.

Four wins out of four in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign so far have put England well on track for a place in the finals in France next summer.

Six points clear of Slovenia and with a goal difference of +10 already, the Three Lions have one foot in the finals with six games still to play. Tonight they can move a step closer with a home game against Lithuania - the 94th best team in the world according to the Fifa rankings.

That's just below Benin, but above Tanzania.

    Five out of five tonight?
