  3. Stansfeld: PCC win 'very satisfactory'

    Anthony Stansfeld described his PCC win as a “very satisfactory result”, saying crime in the region had reduced “hugely” since he took over in 2012.

    When asked if he would be celebrating tonight, he told our reporter: "I shall have a large whiskey and go to bed."

  11. Anthony Stansfeld wins Thames Valley PCC vote in second round

    Anthony Stanseld has won a second term as the police and crime commissioner for the Thames Valley - but needed a second-round vote count to claim his win.

    The Conservative candidate won just under 40% of the vote in the first round, going up against Labour's Laetisia Carter in the second round.

    Following the count, he won 52.21% of the vote on a 25.6% turnout.

  12. Radiohead release track in advance of new album release on Sunday

    Legendary Abingdon rock band Radiohead have released a new track in advance of the release of their new album this Sunday at 19:00.

    The new album will be available digitally first and then in physical formats from 17 June.

  13. Milton Interchange work to be completed this weekend

    The Milton Interchange will be closed from 20:00 tomorrow night as engineers finish off the "hamburger" roundabout.

    The team hopes to have the traffic lights working and the roads reopened by late afternoon on Sunday - but the closure period is being advertised as running until 09:00 on Monday to allow for unforeseen circumstances.

  17. Travel latest: Delays in Bicester and Kingston Bagpuize

    • The B4100 London Road in Bicester is blocked in both directions between the Priory Road junction and the Mallards Way junction, because of a level crossing failure
    • There's very slow traffic on the A4074 Henley Road in both directions between the A329 New Road junction and the Benson Lane junction
    • And there's heavier than usual traffic on the A415 in both directions in Kingston Bagpuize between the Frax Close junction and the Digging Lane junction
  18. Weather warning issued for tomorrow

    Just as we're getting used to the warm and sunny weather at last, the Met Office have warned of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms tomorrow.

    While the majority of places will see a dry and very warm Saturday, with a good deal of hazy sunshine, it says there is "a very low likelihood of isolated intense thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and evening". 

    These could lead to "torrential downpours as well as frequent lightning and hail".

    In the Bicester West ward, independent Les Sibley has kept his seat, with the Conservatives taking the other two seats.
