    The Safer Road Partnership in Warwickshire and West Mercia says more than 450 arrests were made over the Christmas period for drink and/or drug driving.

  4. Adam Armstrong: Newcastle striker deal not yet done

    Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray says a deal to keep in-form striker Adam Armstrong on loan until the end of the season still needs "rubber stamping".

    Armstrong, 18, has scored 16 goals in 22 games for Coventry since arriving from Newcastle last summer on a deal that due to expire on 16 January.

  5. Council look to build on Coventry green belt

    The Coventry councillor in charge of development says the redesignation of some of Coventry's green belt will help protect land elsewhere.

    In the new local plan the council are looking to use around 10% of green belt to provide new houses over the next 20 years. 

    Councillor Kevin Maton said that not having a valid housing plan in place would "allow developers to pick and choose to build wherever they feel is appropriate".

  6. Murder probe victim is former Sky Blues player's father

    An assault victim who died after being attacked on New Year's Eve was the father of League One footballer Leon Clarke, it has emerged. 

    The former Coventry City striker's father, named in reports as 50-year-old Darrell Clarke, died in hospital on Saturday after suffering a head injury at a pub in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton.

    The player's current club, Bury FC, said it was aware of an "incident" that had brought about the death of his father.

  9. Searches continue for missing Luke Whelan

    The family of Coventry man Luke Whelan say they'll carry on the search for him, a month after he went missing.

    The 37-year-old hasn't been seen since he left his Tile Hill home on 28 November to go to the pub.

    His uncle, Aubrey Edwards said the family has been out searching every weekend as well as delivering leaflets about Luke's disappearance and collecting CCTV from the area. 

  10. Rugby Premiership: Wasps lose at Sale

  12. Body found in Atherstone canal

    The body of a man believed to be in his 60s has been found in the canal at Atherstone in north Warwickshire. 

    Police were called to the canal near Westwood Road at about 08:45 this morning. 

    They say there are no suspicious circumstances at the moment.

  15. Children injured in M40 crash

    Three children were among four people treated by ambulance crews following a collision on the M40 yesterday.

    The vehicle left the road and travelled down the embankment before crashing into a tree between junctions 15 and 16 near Henley-in-Arden.

    Fire crews helped one young boy who was trapped in the car, and three others were treated at the scene before being taken to Heartlands Hospital.
