James MacMillan recounts his own and Bruckner's love of Richard Wagner's dream world
The composer discusses how he fell in love with The Ring and Wagner's other operas from an early age, and talks about Bruckner's adulation of Wagner.
He relates the tale of the time that Bruckner had set up a meeting with the great composer, when he shared 'quite a few' beers with Wagner and had to write to him later to remind him which of his Second or Third Symphonies he preferred.
