About 370 properties were flooded on 26 December as heavy rain affected the Calder Valley.

Construction work on the scheme is expected to begin by the end of 2016.

Police in West Yorkshire are warning suppliers and sellers of what are known as legal highs to dispose of any remaining stock. 

A ban on the psychoactive substances came into effect today, which means offenders could face up to seven years in prison - if they continue to sell them.

The chemicals, sold under names such as spice and pink panther, are designed to give users the same effect as drugs like cannabis and cocaine.

Leeds boxer Nicola Adams will this afternoon continue her bid to become a world champion. 

She's fighting in the semi-finals in Kazakhstan. If she wins she'll go through to tomorrow's final, guaranteeing herself at least a silver medal. 

Adams has won gold at every major tournament except the world championships.

Charis Scott was last seen at her home address in Harehills at about 1745 on Tuesday 24 May.

Charis is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, slim build, with shoulder-length dark hair. She was last seen wearing black trousers, black trainers and a black coat.

Mark Collett and his girlfriend Eva Van Housen - who has a swastika tattoo - have been handing out Vote Leave leaflets and badges from an official-looking stall in Leeds city centre.

Mr Collett was chair of the BNP Youth Wing before the party expelled him.

The westbound M62 entry slip road from the M621 is partially blocked and there is slow traffic at J27, M621 (Gildersome) because of an accident. 

Congestion is now backing up to J28, A650 (Tingley).

A UK online university network is claiming a "breakthrough moment" with a project which will allow students to cut the cost of a Russell Group degree by studying part of it online.

A Futurelearn online course will provide credits towards a University of Leeds undergraduate degree.

It will mean reducing the time and cost of tuition fees for a full degree.

Futurelearn chairman Peter Horrocks says this will provide the flexibility needed by many students.

HS2 is an over-priced, gold-plated project and will fail in many of its objectives, a group of transport experts has warned. The planned route which will link London with Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds, has a £50bn price tag.

The academics support high-speed rail overall, but say HS2 is five times more expensive than its French equivalent.

They argue that the benefits of HS2 can be achieved much more cheaply, with lower CO2 emissions, and they want their analysis examined by government.

A new 20mph speed limit will be in force in Hebden Bridge as part of the Love our Streets campaign from tomorrow.
