This five-piece band from Stockport all had various musical projects on the go before they got together and formed Blossoms. Since then they’ve spent months rehearsing, writing, and honing their sound, developing themselves into one of Manchester’s most exciting new music exports.

Their music has been described as psych-pop with a 60s edge, drawn from a variety of musical influences including The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis and ABBA. They’re very proud of the pop element to their sound: “Pop music is pop. It's popular for a reason,” they have said. “We're not ashamed or shying away from the fact we want to be as catchy as we can be. Our aim is to make people put their arms round each other and sing and be able to dance at the same time”.

BBC Introducing played a huge part in Blossoms development. After the band sent their music to the BBC Introducing Uploader in 2014, the Introducing show in Manchester quickly got on board, avidly playing their music and showcasing the band at live shows around the city. Soon the northern buzz reached London and 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq invited the boys to Maida Vale for their first national radio session.

The band have released two EPs this year, Blown Rose and Charlemagne, getting support from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart and BBC Radio 6 Music.
