Engineering a safer mosquito

Is mosquito eradication the best way to prevent an outbreak of something like the Zika virus? The British company Oxitec is using genetic engineering to try to bring mosquito levels down, by introducing a gene that means the insects die before they reach adulthood. Oxitec CEO Hadyn Parry explained to Owen Bennett Jones how it works.
