  6. Travel latest: A34 delays and Abingdon Road breakdown in Oxford

    • The A34 is looking busy between Abingdon and Botley, and further up from Kidlington to Islip
    • In Oxford you can expect some delays on the Abingdon Road southbound because of a broken-down truck near Thames Street

    Oxfordshire's chemists are worried that new government plans could drive them out of business.

    Three years after Oxford Stadium was closed, the city council has come up with an ambitious plan to seize back control of the site.

  9. Backhill Tunnel path to link Didcot and Milton Park

    A scheme to build a pedestrian and cycle link between Didcot and Milton Park is to start in the summer.

    The £1.4m transport link will go through the Backhill Tunnel, which has been closed to the public for many years.

    It's hoped it will reduce the number of vehicles on nearby roads and help to encourage economic development in the area.

  10. David Cameron's mother 'should not be gagged' over cuts petition

    A cabinet minister says David Cameron's mother is free to complain about spending cuts in Oxfordshire.

    Retired magistrate Mary Cameron has signed a petition in an effort to save children's centres from county council cuts, which the council blames on a reduction in central government funding.

  11. Warning that new contract could drive doctors away

    Junior doctor leaders say they will fight on after the government announced that it will impose a new contract on those working in the NHS in England, and warned that medics may be forced to leave the profession, or practice abroad.

  13. Star Wars prosecuted over Harrison Ford injury

    The production company behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens is being prosecuted over the incident in which Harrison Ford broke his leg.

    Following the incident, Ford was airlifted to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital for surgery.

    The Health And Safety Executive has brought four criminal charges against Foodles Production (UK) Ltd - a subsidiary of Disney.

  15. Coming up on Drivetime with David Prever: Junior doctor contract fight continues

    The Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt says a new contract will be imposed on junior doctors in England later this year after their union, the BMA, rejected a final offer to settle the dispute about pay and weekend working.

    The stance raises the prospect of more strikes, while behind the scenes there has been talk of legal action, mass resignations and doctors refusing to sign contracts.

  18. Westgate shopping centre demolition under way

    Work has begun to demolish a 1970s shopping centre in the centre of Oxford as part of a £440m redevelopment.

    The Westgate development in the city centre will eventually have more than 100 shops, 25 restaurants and cafes, a cinema and 61 flats. 

    The development is due for completion in autumn next year.

  19. Oxford City Council makes £45,000 solar panel investment

    Sixty-six solar panels have been installed on Oxford City Council's main offices in St Aldate's Chambers.

    The £45,000 panels will generate about £4,445 of income every year for the council from the government's feed-in tariff, and provide 10% of the building's electricity.

    The move was welcomed by the Green Party. But councillor Ruthi Brandt called for more to be done, adding this was "just a fraction of the roof space owned or managed by the city council".
