School pays tribute to student who 'brightened lives'
Garforth Academy has paid a moving tribute to 14-year-old Amelia Wake who died after being hit by a car near Leeds on Monday.
The school said: "Amelia was a bright, confident and conscientious student who was held in high regard by staff and students alike.
"She was a talented gymnast and Sports Leader and had the potential to achieve anything she set her mind to; but was always so modest about her achievements.

"Her positive attitude and infectious smile brightened the lives of all those who met her and the Academy will not be the same without her.
"Words cannot express how much we will miss Amelia but she will never be far from our thoughts.
"Our heartfelt sympathy is with her family, friends and all that had the pleasure to know her during her short but wonderful life."

The 27-year-old scrum-half, who joined from Bradford Bulls in 2014, was under contract until 2017 but had been linked with a move away from The Jungle.

Police name 14-year-old crash victim
West Yorkshire Police have named a 14-year-old girl who died after she was hit by a car earlier this week.
Garforth Academy student Amelia Wake was walking with friends along a grass verge at the side of Bullerthorpe Lane, Colton, near Leeds, on Monday when she was struck by a blue Ford Focus.

I mentioned that they had a Spitfire cockpit you could have a go in. Well, here's the proof!
It looks as though we're in for a very slow commute home tonight around Leeds. If you're sitting on a bus, a passenger in a stationary car or someone walking past a huge queue in town, send us your pictures and let us know how bad it is.
Travel update: M621 J7 closure both ways diversion advice

Highways England have just issued some travel advice if it's looking like you're about to join the queues on the M621. Police have closed it as they deal with an incident.
They advise that if you're on the M1 northbound, you should carry on to J44, join the A639 and A61 following the hollow circle symbols. You'll then eventually rejoin the M621 at J7.
If you're heading southbound towards the M1, come off at J7 and use the reverse route.
This is the current situation at J3 westbound.

Deputy head at Yorkshire’s TV school is banned from teaching after altering 600 pupil attendance records

We're getting reports of an "incident" on the M621 both ways around J7 and the M1. As you can see the traffic is pretty bad at the moment.
Police are currently saying that things should return to normal by 16:30. No word on if it's closed or just partially blocked.
I'll keep you posted on any changes.

A dog's best friend
This is Hugo, and he is one very lucky Cocker Spaniel.

The 16-month-old rescue dog fell into a drainage culvert near to Wessenden Head Reservoir. His owners could hear him whimpering but couldn't see him, so they called in West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
A firefighter (pictured) donned a dry suit attached to a line and entered the culvert where managed to pull Hugo back up again.

I was just out to get a snack and thought I'd take a walk back through Leeds' newly refurbished Kirkgate Market.
It cost the council £13m to finish, and I thought I'd take a little video so you can see it if you've not been.

The odd morning shower will slowly brighten with warm spells of sunshine eventually developing. Temperatures could reach 20c.
BreakingMan charged over Bradford pub killing
A Bradford man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of Peter Burns who died after a brawl outside a Bradford pub.
Daniel Mullaney, 29, of Lampards Close, Bradford appeared before Bradford Magistrates' Court this afternoon and will appear in court again on 1 July.
Two other men, both aged 22, who were arrested on suspicion of murder, have been bailed.
Castleford scrum-half signs five-year contract
Acting Castleford captain Luke Gale has signed a new five-year contract with the Super League club.

A headteacher of a school made famous by the Educating Yorkshire TV series has been barred from the classroom after a misconduct panel found that she repeatedly altered student attendance records to make them look better.
