A court has heard that two teenage girls accused of murdering Hartlepool woman Angela Wrightson went back to see if she was all right after the attack but "did not think she needed help".

Miss Wrightson's half naked body was found in her blood splattered home in 2014. She had suffered 103 injuries.

The jury of eight women and four men heard that the girls, then aged 13 and 14, had gone there to drink cider, and left the house during the night.

The court was told they returned in the early hours of the following day as the older girl wanted to see if Miss Wrightson was ok, and that "there was loads of blood".

However, she told the court that she did not think Miss Wrightson needed help when the pair left the house for the final time at about 04:00.

She said: "I can't remember if she was bleeding or not, she was just touching her head."
