Curtains of colour as Northern Lights delight UK

Stargazers in the UK as far south as Wales were treated to a dazzling display of the Aurora Borealis last night.

The Aurora, or Northern Lights, are caused by charged particles being emitted from the sun.

Earlier BBC Weather's Chris Fawkes explained to the Derbyshire programme how the particles hitting different gases in the earth's atmosphere produce different colours in the night sky.
