Correspondent who broke news of WWII turns 104 this weekend

Clare Hollingworth, the correspondent who broke news of World War II beginning, turns 104 this weekend.

She's little known outside of her field despite her incredible career. Her supporters have launched a campaign to win her some recognition and get a biography published.

John Humphrys met her in 1971 when they were both covering the Indian-Pakistan war.

Christiane Amanpour, CNN's Chief International Correspondent and an admirer of Hollingworth told Today: "Can you imagine breaking World War II?! It is great to see this woman stand out so clearly and so prominently in the ranks of foreign correspondents."

Amanpour added: "(She) went into Germany and there she saw what the Nazis were trying to hide, columns and columns of tanks and heavy artillery and troops…how did anybody believe her?!"
