BBC's live Andy Murray Q&A wins television award

Tennis star Andy Murray's live question and answer session for BBC Scotland Learning/BBC Sport has won a Royal Television Society Scotland award.

"Get Inspired - Andy Murray Live" came top in the live event category.

The BBC Sport website event was praised for its "unique access to an international sporting star".

Its "clever use of real people edged it ahead of other exceptionally good live TV sporting coverage in Scotland," said the judging panel.

Murray, 28, answered questions from school pupils from around the UK, hosted by Sue Barker and broadcast from Wallace High School in Stirling.

The Scottish two-time Grand Slam champion revealed his thoughts on everything from sandwiches, shoes, whether he might coach one day, and the possibility of starting a family.

BBC Sport's coverage of the Commonwealth Games and BT Sport's live broadcast of last season's relegation play-off second leg between Hibernian and Hamilton Academical were also nominated for the award.

Meanwhile, BBC Alba won the best sports programme award for its Jock Stein documentary, which the judges said" offered fresh insight into one of Scottish football's iconic figures".

BBC Scotland's "Sore in the Saddle - an Adventure Show Special" - "a visually stunning, utterly compelling tale of ordinary people who are extraordinary athletes" - and BBC Sport's "Tonight at the Games" Commonwealth Games highlights show were also nominated.
