  7. Ronnie Corbett hailed as 'the number one comedian'

    Tributes have been paid to Ronnie Corbett who has died at the age of 85.

    Some of the scenes in Corbett's hit series 'Sorry' were filmed in Wallingford, where extras were recruited from the local school's drama students.

  9. Chained motorbike stolen from Summertown

    An orange Sinnis Apache motorbike has been stolen from Summertown in Oxford.

    The 125cc bike was locked and chained at Harpes Road when it was taken overnight on Tuesday 29 March.

    The chain was stolen along with the vehicle.

  10. Architect Dame Zaha Hadid dies at 65

    Architect Dame Zaha Hadid, whose designs include a centre for Middle East studies at St Anthony's College, has died aged 65.

    Iraqi-born, this year she was the first woman to receive the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal in recognition of her work.

    Her designs have been commissioned around the world and included the London Olympic Aquatic Centre.

  12. Children with cancer to be offered new gene test

    Oxford's John Radcliffe is among hospitals working to genetically test tumours from children with cancer.

    The procedure sequences the genes of the tumour, allowing specific mutations to be targeted, and should give younger patients access to newer, more personalised medicines and improve survival rates.

    The implementation of the test has been funded by the National Institute for Health Research and the Institute of Cancer Research.

    After more than four years of delays, the new Townlands Hospital in Henley has finally been unveiled today.

    The £16m development has been hampered by problems and delays putting it almost half a decade behind schedule.

  15. Oxfordshire's NHS 111 service 'could compromise patient safety'

    The safety of patients using the 111 service in Oxfordshire could be "compromised", according to the county's leading health body.

    risk assessment report published by Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, which oversees health services, said: "Patient safety in the 111 service will be compromised due to performance issues caused by a lack of resilience to peaks in demand."

    South Central Ambulance Service runs the phone line and has said calls have increased by 16% in the last year.  

  16. Oxford United sell out Wembley tickets

    Oxford United has sold its allocation of over 33,000 tickets, which were sent to the Kassam Stadium. Fans will be able to buy tickets on the day from 10:30 at Wembley's East Ticket Office.

  17. 'Nowhere near enough progress' on bed blocking

    More has to be done to improve the discharging of patients from Oxfordshire's hospitals, according to the chair of the county's Clinical Commissioning Group.

    A scheme which saw patients moved from hospitals to nursing homes at the end of last year initially caused a drop in the number of people bed blocking from 150, but the numbers have gradually increased this year back up to 130.

  18. Bands 'like playing' Truck Festival

    The organisers of Truck Festival say bands are attracted to the event, as they announced Kodaline would be one of the headline acts.
