Scenes in Africa, where Kenyan league champions Gor Mahia have splashed out a national record fee of four million shillings (£27,000) to sign Rwandan star Jacques Tuyisenge. The Amavubi Wasps skipper has agreed to a two-year deal from Rwanda Police FC with the move sealed before end of the January transfer window.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, speaking to BBC Sport: "I am a very happy coach because I have seen fantastic goals, team goals, where we are building up from the back and finishing like that, and also controlling the game in the second half. Michael Carrick said to me after the match that it is so different when you score the early goal. We had a lot of chances to score in the first half also in previous matches but you have to finish, and now we are finishing and still creating more.

"I think we have played in the first half attacking- wise very good. In the second half we were more controlling and we didn't give any chances away against a team like Stoke. That is remarkable because they always make it difficult."

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a great first half, we scored fantastic goals and we created more chances above that. In the second we controlled the game, scored the third goal. It was very good.

"I think in 2016 we have only lost against Southampton in the last minute. We have more confidence maybe. I cannot say we now have more confidence because we lost to Southampton at home and that can never be. At home you have to win but I hope it gives us motivation to continue because in Derby we played very well also. Three goals eh? In a row!"

Stoke manager Mark Hughes, speaking to Sky Sports: "We didn't start in the right manner. We conceded early on, were too passive and for the first goal we didn't get close enough to people. Avoiding going 1-0 down early on is what you talk about before coming to Old Trafford, and unfortunately we conceded another poor goal for the second. 

"In the second half we had  go but you run the risk of being caught and in the end it was probably damage limitation from our point of view."

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew: "We just cannot seem to find a goal. It was a frustrating evening: a lot of good play, but another defeat. 

"We're losing too many bodies, a tough night for us. Of course it's concerning, but we go to Swansea and try and get a result. It was a good goal. 

"Bournemouth worked very hard and they scored with their two chances. It's hard to take that we've lost but we have to rebound. We lacked a bit of quality: we were up for the battle but you've got to have both sides."

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea: "That was a really important game for us, three important points. They didn't create many chances, we scored early and that was the key. We need to keep this tempo and try to get into the top four as soon as possible. We always try to play the same football; we believe in ourselves and we need to keep this level, play all the matches like today."

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic speaking to BBC Sport: "I've seen many times that a team that has one player more can't find a solution, are more nervous and concede a goal. 

"It wasn't the case tonight. In the second half we played the way a team should against 10 men. 

"We could have scored earlier but then we scored with a great goal and after that it was much easier. 

"Aston Villa played good. I have to give a lot of credit to them. They've improved a lot. Unfortunately for them that one moment of madness affected the game a lot."

They make a big fuss about it and that's what they do. That's mostly foreign players, they do make a big fuss of it. That's in their nature - I'm not saying it's in the way they are brought up. They react in a more volatile way to incidents like that than we do. We accept that but I don't think Jermain intentionally did it."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: "We put the energy level in and created chances. I cannot fault the team on that front. It is not only luck. I don't believe too much in luck. We feel disappointed and guilty. In a game like that when you create chances you want to win. We had the chances to win it. But their keeper kept them in it.

"You have to always think the opponent will play well and despite that still score. We had all kind of chances and it looked like it would come. But sometimes you lose these games."

[When asked if this is a case of the 'same old Arsenal', dropping points at crucial stages] "Look, I don't know why you say same old Arsenal. For 20 years we have been at the top of the Premier League. At the moment we have to say that we have dropped points but we have to keep fighting and believing."

Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard, speaking to BBC Sport: "From the first whistle we were on top, we were sharp, that’s what we needed to do today. As soon as we scored the first we knew we’d score a second or a third. A result like that settles the nerves of the fans, the players, even the manager. Hopefully now we can go on a run, we’re looking forward to the Chelsea game."

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "We weren't very good first half, but we showed great resilience and we just about deserved it. 

"It was a high-class goal [from Marc Pugh] and it proved to be a lifeline. Second half we were a lot more fluent and we broke really dangerously through the heart of the pitch. 

"We believe in Benik [Afobe] and he's doing ever so well for us. We're not the finished article but we're moving in the right direction."

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri told BBC MOTD: " Amazing. The first goal was unbelievable. We played very well and pressed a lot against a very good team. Jamie is very fast and can create a lot but it was unbelievable how Mahrez found him and how he had the time to see the keeper out of the goal and scored a fantastic goal. 

"The team is in good condition. Now it is important to recover the energy because we have to run a lot against Manchester City. We are free of pressure. The players have a good feeling."
