Europa League semi-final reaction

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport: "Of course I'm not too happy with the goal we conceded in the last second. Counter attacking in the 92nd minute makes not much sense but it is only the first leg. It is 1-0 and they have to come to Anfield where we know how strong we are. We had our moments, we defended really good. This race is not over.

"If we had enough players in around the box it was no problem but they played this one chip ball over Kolo, I don't know where Alberto was in this moment but that was the only big mistake we made in this game and they scored with it. 

"90 minutes played, 95, we will play at Anfield and that is a different game then."

"I think Liverpool are still favourites to go through. Villarreal will not fancy going to Anfield. I'm sure it will work for them in the return leg."

Defending champions Sevilla have taken a big step towards reaching the Europa League final after drawing 2-2 Shakhtar Donetsk.

The visitors were made to fight all the way and it took a late Kevin Gameiro penalty to earn the draw.

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure, speaking to BT Sport: "It was a great ball put in. We can do better defending that but we look for positives now. There is another game, we had chances to score. We showed against Dortmund we can respond. We know we can do it, we just need to believe. We just need to learn from the mistakes and play the same game we did against Dortmund."

Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet, speaking to BT Sport: "I think we played a good game. Everyone saw Villarreal's quality but we had some chances to score. It didn't happy but we still have it all to play for. It was a very tactical game. They were tough to break down but with the fans behind us it is there to play for at home."

"When the players watch that goal tomorrow, Klopp will be trying to make the point that they have to do their job. If you are a left back, defend. We have a left back who enjoys going forward and he is better going forward than he is defensively."

Alberto Moreno was M.I.A for that goal. He was maybe still stewing after racing up the other end of the pitch and fluffing that chance but he left a big gap at the back that Villarreal exploited to the maximum.

Three minutes of injury time is shown on the fourth official's board as James Milner crosses into the box for Christian Benteke. The striker is in a good position but it is just a bit too high for him and he can't get any direction on it.
