Album released to raise money for charities that assisted blues singer

The widow of a blues singer who died from an asbestos-related disease last year has released a CD of his music, to raise money for charities that helped him.

JJ Fairs, from Westleton, played many gigs around the UK, including at the Royal Festival Hall.
His widow Carole says a recording made in 2007 was unearthed and will now be sold to support two charities close to JJ's heart.
"Unfortunately he died before he could do anything about it, so I carried on with the project," Carole said.

Prison sentence for woman who stole from RAF Honington accounts
A civilian employee who stole more than £70,000 from mess accounts at RAF Honington has been jailed for 18 months.
Ipswich Crown Court heard Zowie Davis, 38, failed to keep proper records in her role as mess clerk between February 2012 and October 2014, and paid £23,000 in cash and almost £50,000 in cheques into her own bank accounts.

Davis had previously been diagnosed as suffering from severe depression and was detained under the Mental Health Act in December 2014.
Sentencing her, Judge Christopher Morgan said: "I have sympathy for you but there is no link between your current predicament, and your offending."

EDF Energy has confirmed parts for the Sizewell B nuclear power station were made at a French plant being investigated over possible fake manufacturing records.
But the nuclear giant said there was no evidence faulty components had been used at the Suffolk plant.

In a statement, EDF said nuclear safety was its overriding priority and the company was ensuring all necessary quality control checks were complete at Sizewell B.
It added: "These quality controls are designed to meet the exacting standards for our business and our suppliers."
Ipswich Town: No deal for Luke Varney

The 33-year-old, who returned to action in December after seven months out with a ruptured Achilles, has been told he won't be getting offered a new deal.

Wagamama, Byron and Prezzo have announced they are to open restaurants as part of the £35m redevelopment.
The centre's owners say the units for a 12-screen Empire cinema complex and Pure Gym are due to be handed over to the operators, to be fitted out, in June.

As reported in the Ipswich Star, the redevelopment of the centre, which was acquired for £9.2m in 2015, is costing £35m and will also include a cinema.
Capital & Regional and the Drum Property Group say a further unit has been placed under offer, and they are in advanced negotiations for the remaining four dining units.
