A man has died after his car left the A1M near Borehamwood last night.

Police say that for reasons unknown at this stage, a black Toyota Rav 4 left the northbound carriageway just before 22:00 and ended up in a treeline.
The driver, a man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating.

Three men from Dunstable who claim they were banned from a pub quiz because they kept winning said they feel "aggrieved".

Graham Deaves, 65, said The Horn in St Albans told him he and Norman Hughan, 82, and Nick Mepham, 49, could no longer take part.
He said pub staff claimed some people were not doing the quiz any more because "the old guys kept winning", the St Albans Review first reported. A pub spokesman said it had "asked them to take a break".

A spectator who heckled Bedfordshire golfer Ian Poulter during a tournament in America appears to have lost his job.

Woburn touring professional Poulter used Twitter to inform the man's bosses that he'd yelled "You will not make the Ryder Cup team" and "You will hit it in the water" during Florida's Valspar Championship at the weekend.
After finishing 67th, Poulter re-tweeted the comments adding: "I'm sure Florida Southern College are really proud of your professionalism. I wish you the very best". A College spokeswoman said the man is no longer an employee.

Axe attack man convicted of attempted murder

A man who attacked his former partner with an axe in Aylesbury has been convicted of attempted murder.
The attack left the 29-year-old with a seven centimetre wound to her neck, six puncture wounds to her back, broken ribs and a bruised lung.
Just after 02:00 on the 16 August 2010, Arshad Latif, 34, of Haydon Road, went to a house in Eaton Road and attacked his former partner. Staff at Stoke Mandeville Hospital say she was lucky to avoid life-threatening injuries. He will be sentenced next month.
A major road in Rickmansworth is to close next week. Rectory Road will be closed so engineers from Transport for London can move the new bridge from Victoria Close to Station Road.
Woman sexually assaulted in Bedford

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Bedford on Friday afternoon.

The woman was walking along Elstow Road, close to the junction with Armstrong Drive, at 17:00 when she was assaulted.
Her attacker is described as white, in his 30s, of average build, about six foot tall, with dark cropped hair, and dark eyes.
Cyclist critical after Stevenage crash

A cyclist is in a critical condition in hospital following a collision in Stevenage yesterday.

The crash happened along Webb Rise, opposite the junction with Meredith Road, at about 19:40.
A black VW Golf and the cyclist were both travelling towards Lonsdale Road. The 22-year-old driver wasn't injured. The cyclist suffered serious head injuries and remains at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

The incident happened by a private lake off Bury Weir Lane in Buckland between 15:00 and 16:00 on 10 March.
A man, woman and two children were walking a small terrier-type dog around the lake when the owner heard a disturbance. The group left the area as the owner approached, police say.

Anti-clockwise on the M25 J25-J24, there is heavy traffic due to an earlier broken down vehicle.

Dozens of dogs seized in raid
Nearly 40 dogs were seized during a raid at a house near Royston yesterday.
Police and the RSPCA raided the address at Hay Green in Therfield after concern was raised over the safety of the animals.
The owner was co-operating with the the police and RSPCA. The 38 dogs are now being homed in kennels.
