GPs calling for an ambulance in Oxfordshire say they are waiting three or four times longer for a crew than if they called from a private home.

The ambulance service has confirmed that if a GP calls for an ambulance it is not rated as a 'red' critical call, but instead 'green' meaning an ambulance is sent in 30 minutes.

The chair of the local medical committee in Oxfordshire has called for a change in the policy.

There were two robberies in Oxford last weekend, which police are not currently linking, by men armed with knives.

On Saturday at about 19:15 on Magdalen Road a woman in her 20s was threatened by a man wearing a hooded top with a scarf covering his face. He demanded her purse, but the victim refused and he ran away.

The second incident took place at 02:30 on Sunday in St Aldates, when a 20-year-old man was approached by two men who demanded cash. The victim gave them £60.

The owner of the narrow boat that slipped its moorings and became wedged at the Botley Bridge in Oxford says he was "gobsmacked" when he discovered what had happened.

John Simmonds says he has lost everything after water flooded his boat, and thanked the boating community for helping him.

• It's slow on the A40 Northern Bypass in Oxford from the Marston flyover to the Headington roundabout

A 33-year-old man has been jailed for three years and three months after being found guilty of a burglary in Oxford.

Wayne Ronald Axtell smashed down the back door of a property on Finmore Road, Botley, on 11 March 2015, stealing a laptop computer and clothing.

An independent chairman will be appointed to a group set up to monitor the new Townlands Hospital following accusations that it has failed to engage with the community. 

The Environment Agency, local councils and the Army have all been to see the stricken boat on the River Thames at Botley Bridge today, but the vessel remains firmly wedged across the waterway.

The boat came free from its moorings on Monday afternoon, and now a temporary slipway has been created by removing railings, a wall and an embankment in preparation for an attempt to winch it free tomorrow.

This afternoon a sewage leak in Sutton Courtenay didn't just see excreta issue forth, but also anger about the state of the village's infrastructure.

Thames Water put the problem down to a clump of baby wipes, but residents say the problems run deeper and new developments have overwhelmed the sewerage system.

A sewage leak in Sutton Courtenay was flowing constantly at a rate of "about four or five bucketfuls a second" according to eyewitness David.

Thames Water say a large clump of wet wipes was responsible for the sewage leak, and they will remain on site for at least the next hour cleaning and disinfecting the leak area.
