  1. Post update

Lewis Hamilton has had some rotten luck this season, but could this be a turning point for the reigning world champion?

Next up, the Canadian Grand Prix - a race only Michael Schumacher (seven) has won more than Hamilton (four). Nico Rosberg, meanwhile, has never triumphed there.

    Game on.

  2. Only Schumacher has now led more races than Hamilton

Tie dye t-shirts in 2016? Amazing scenes.

  4. Four in a row

    Mercedes

Victory for Mercedes means they are the masters of Monaco. They've won it every year since 2013.

Warind: Have to give credit to Mercedes. By letting Hamilton pass Rosberg, avoided possible DNFs for both if they raced each other.

Rob Elmore: I think people are missing/forgetting the main issue here, why are Red Bull all of a sudden faster than Mercedes?

  6. Closing in

    f1

Lewis Hamilton's 44th career win means he closes the gap on Alain Prost in the all-time list of career wins. Prost is seven ahead with 51, while Michael Schumacher is way out in front on 91.

  7. The end of a long wait

    Hamilton graphic

No driver has experienced a longer wait between their first and second Monaco GP victories than Lewis Hamilton, who previously won in 2008.

The legendary five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio won in 1950 and 1957, although the race was not held in 1951, 1953 and 1954.

  8. Post update

Daniel Ricciardo may well leave Monaco with a bitter taste in his mouth, but in the long term things are looking positive for Red Bull. In fact, have they overtaken Ferrari as Mercedes' main rivals now? Sebastian Vettel really struggled to get the better of Sergio Perez.

    Ayrton Senna

That's a second win in Monaco for Lewis Hamilton, but he'll struggle to match Ayrton Senna's record at the race. Senna won it six times.

  12. 'I didn't have the pace'

Playing devil's advocate, but do you think Lewis Hamilton would do the same if he were in Nico Rosberg's position?

Sean Richardson: Based on previous form this season the Torro Rosso mechanics/engineers will be promoted for Canada. No?

Shen Ravendradas: The Monaco GP seems to always have an unhappy driver on the podium.

Adam Heap: Don't understand how Lewis gets plaudits for a win when his team-mate let him pass and his opponent was screwed by his own team.

    Clearly someone isn't a Belieber...

  16. 'We presented it to Mercedes'

Red Bull motorsport chief Helmut Marko is very downcast as he tells Sky Sports that his team gifted victory to Lewis Hamilton with Daniel Ricciardo's botched pit stop.

He says: "We presented it to Mercedes. Unfortunately a lot of misunderstanding and not the right communication.

"We will investigate and find out but it was a human mistake.

"I feel really sorry (for Daniel Ricciardo) and all I can do is apologise to him."

  17. 'When it couldn't get worse, it gets better'

Asked about whether it is indeed game on in the title battle, Lewis Hamilton said: "We are in the battle. There is still a long, long way to go but just when you feel it cannot get any worse, it gets better."

That gap between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton is now down to just 24 points.

It's been a while, seven months in fact, but Lewis Hamilton has finally aligned his victory tally with his car number. That's the 44th win of his career.
