    Andy Roddick

Former world number one on BBC TV

  4. Novak too strong - Edberg

Roger Federer's coach Stefan Edberg on BBC Sport: "It was a great match out there. Roger made a great comeback, I don't know how he got out of it. In the end Novak was just a little too strong.

"He kept serving well, made a lot of returns. Roger would have needed to serve a little better."

    Andy Roddick

Former world number one on BBC TV

  6. Djokovic wins Wimbledon

    Djokovic 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 Federer

    Andy Roddick

Former world number one on BBC TV

"Nadal has shown his mortality. Novak is the best player in the world and not a close second. Novak is best player in the world and I don't see that changing."

    Andy Roddick

Former world number one on BBC TV

"You want to play as well as you can every match. Form in the first week is overrated, then it's based on match-ups. The reasons Federer's numbers were down today was Novak Djokovic cause and effect... He causes you to play above yourself and that had an effect on Roger."

  10. Djokovic wins Wimbledon

    Djokovic 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 Federer

    Tim Henman

Former British number one on BBC TV

    Tim Henman

"Roger Federer has always had an incredible perspective on his game and his career. Because of his performance in the semi-final when he played, for me, as good as tennis as he has ever played, his expectation would have been to lift an 18th Grand Slam title. It did not work out for him but his focus will now be on the US Open."

    Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic, cradling his trophy, meets Benedict Cumberbatch in the club house. "How on earth did you manage to play at such a level?" the actor asks. "It was elementary," says Djokovic, sniggering as he walks to the balcony. (Some of that has been made up, utter fantasy.)

    Tim Henman

Former British number one on BBC TV

    Djokovic 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 Federer

    Andy Roddick

Former world number one on BBC TV

"The first serve was going to be vital. You have to look at the numbers and how good he has been. Federer's percentage has been at 67% and he'd won 82% of those points. Today Djokovic was able to restrict him to 74%. On the second serve Djokovic was able to win half the points. That's a huge difference."

  30. Winner's reaction

Novak Djokovic to BBC Sport after being asked about coach Boris Becker not having the bragging rights any more:

"No he doesn't. We will have a glass of beer or a glass of wine. It has been a long run, ever since we started working together it took some time to understand each other. He is German, I am Serbian, a significant difference. We managed to find the right chemistry. This is his trophy as much as mine."

    Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic ate blades of Centre Court grass after beating Roger Federer last year and chewed the cud again this year. Sue Barker asks: "What's that all about?"

"It tasted very very good this year," jokes Djokovic. "I don't know what the grounds people have done but they've done a good job. It's a little tradition."

Roger Federer talking to BBC Sport: "Well done Novak. That is sport, we don't know the outcome. I had my chances in the first set. I got lucky to win the second, had chances in the third.

"But he was better on the bigger points. He was rock solid, I didn't play badly myself. That's how it goes.

"I work very hard, so do the other guys, I have a great team behind me. Without them it would not be possible. I am still very hungry and motivated. A privilege to play here, again. I would have loved to win but Novak was very good."

    Roger Federer

"I didn't play bad myself so I can be very happy, that's how it goes," says Federer, magnanimous in defeat. Defeat has not clouded the Centre Court's love for the 17-time Grand Slam champion. They whistle, they cheer and click, click, click.

After winning the first set so comfortably, Britain's Jordanne Whiley and Yui Kamiji aren't having it their own way on court 16 and have dropped serve twice. There have been some superb rallies, though, in what has been a very topsy-turvy second set. It's well poised at 4-4 currently.

  267. Edberg v Becker reloaded

    Stefan Edberg beats Boris Becker

Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker contested three consecutive finals between 1988 and 1990, with Edberg winning two.

Today they will be in opposing player boxes.

Ederg paired up with Federer in 2014 and is credited with bringing a little old-school serve-volley into the old maestro.

Becker linked with Djokovic in late 2013 and under his guidance the Serb has risen to number one in the world, won another two Grand Slam titles, and finished runner-up in another three.

    Andy Roddick

Former world number one on BBC TV

"The first real result that sent a shiver through the tournament was Dustin Brown beating Rafael Nadal in round two.

"Everyone was looking at Rafa before the tournament as maybe being able to do something again this year, but what happened there was the first match at this year's Wimbledon which was really must-see TV - a match that once you started watching it, you could not get away from it. That was the big story of the first week."

    Heather Watson and Serena Williams

"The first match that stands out for me was Heather Watson playing Serena Williams in the third round, because of Heather's joy, and her energy level and because the crowd on Centre Court was so amazing.

"They were just so engaged and excited about Heather playing so well and the prospect of her possibly taking out the number one player in the world.

"Watson was two points away and that wasn't because Serena gave it to her - Heather was playing the match of her life. I was covering that match for BBC Radio 5 live and it was wonderful to be part of the atmosphere."

  273. All for one...

    Boris Becker

Novak Djokovic, his coach Boris Becker and the rest of their team were spotted holding hands earlier this morning and we tried to prise out of Becker what was being said.

"That stays between the team," he said. No surprises there to be fair.

As for the match itself, Becker added: "This is the best server against the best return. The defending champion versus a seven time champion. It does not get better.

"When he goes out there, I will just say: 'win the match'."

  275. Djokovic's place in history

    Andy Roddick

Former world number one on BBC Radio 5 live

"Is Novak underappreciated? Looking at the history and context of the game, he already has eight Grand Slam titles. That's the same number as Connors and Agassi. He's got one more than the BBC's own John McEnroe.

"He came after Roger and Rafa and these guys built a following before he did."

A year previously, Novak Djokovic had saved two match points to beat Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the US Open.

In 2011, he repeated the trick, recovering from two sets down to win in three hours and 51 minutes.

Djokovic went on to beat Rafael Nadal in four sets to land his third Grand Slam title of the year.

  280. The man in the hat

    David Spearing

Who is that man in the hat who gets to sit in the players' box every year?

An eternal question at Wimbledon. And the eternal answer is David Spearing. He is the man who decides who is allowed into the ringside seats.

And you have to prove your credentials, even if you are Jay-Z. Watch our Facebook interview with Spearing here.

  281. A controversial tournament for...

    Nick Kyrgios

Last year Nick Kyrgios reached the last eight of Wimbledon as an unseeded teenager, knocking out Rafael Nadal en route.

This year, he chalked up another notable scalp, downing seventh seed Milos Raonic in the third round.

But his run ended in his next match amid controversy. Having already turned the air blue in his previous rounds, the Australian appeared to give up for a game, argued with the umpire over a change of socks and almost hit a spectator with a wayward racquet.

    Martina Hingis

Suddenly it has come over all late 90s at the All England Club.

Martina Hingis, who won the women's singles in 1997, has made a highly successful two-pronged attack on the doubles.

She and Sania Mirza beat second-seeded pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in last night's ladies doubles final.

Hingis will also compete in this afternoon's mixed doubles final, where she and Leander Paes will face Timea Babos and Alexander Peya.

The tents have gone and so too has the queue. The pop-up burger bar has opted to seek custom elsewhere and all that remains at Wimbledon Park are white lines on the turf where thousands used to patiently stand in line.

The festival is nearly over, but there's one heck of headline act bringing it to a close.

  287. Classic encounters

    2007 US Open

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer in 2007

"I think I was mentally weaker at the important moments, and he was mentally stronger."

Not something that you would expect to hear from the 2015 version of Novak Djokovic. But as a 20-year-old, after losing his first Grand Slam final to Roger Federer, the Serb offered the damning self-assessment.

He had led by a break in each of the sets, but went down 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-2) 6-4.

A few months later, at the 2008 Australian Open, Djokovic lifted his first Grand Slam title.

  289. Robson's return

    Laura Robson

This year's Wimbledon marked a welcome return to Grand Slam action for Laura Robson.

Back in 2013, aged 19, she reached the fourth round at the All England and climbed as high as 27th in the world.

However a wrist injury sustained in the run-up to the 2014 Australian Open kept her out of action for 18 months.

Drawn against Russian world number 101 Evgeniya Rodina, Robson lost 6-4 6-4. But just to be back playing at all was a start.

So how did Wimbledon 2015 go for Britain?

Andy Murray, the 2012 runner-up and 2013 champion, fell in the semi-finals to Roger Federer.

But the first week was encouraging with James Ward and Heather Watson joining Murray in the third round. The last time that three Britons made the last 32 of the singles was in 2002.

Watson and Ward went down to creditable defeats to Serena Williams and Vasek Pospisil respectively.

And there were also impressive first-round wins for compatriots Ajaz Bedene and Liam Broady over Radek Stepanek and Marinko Matosevic.

On match days, Novak Djokovic ends his practice sessions with a kind of mini-huddle, where he and his team touch hands and each one of them in turn whispers something.

I'm guessing they are words of inspiration rather than what they had for breakfast, but whatever the defending champion's coach Boris Becker said to finish things off has everyone in fits of laughter.

Roger Federer is playing in his 10th Wimbledon final - but he's got a few more to go to match line judge Michael Sadler, who is taking part in his 13th consecutive men's final.

Michael faced a nervous wait last night before the all-important email came through confirming he'd got the call.

    Line judge Michael Sadler

Does he still get nervous? "Always, especially on Centre Court. There's a different buzz and you can feel the tension."

But he won't be fazed when making calls which could upset Federer or Djokovic. "When I'm on court I'm oblivious to who's on there. I'm just there to call the line and it can be a line anywhere in the world - at my local club tournament or Wimbledon."

But those jet-black cloud symbols suggest they are hedging their bets slightly.

  299. Softtop final?

    Centre Court roof

If the rain does continue to fall, then the Centre Court roof could add a bit of intrigue into proceedings.

The theory goes that it would favour Roger Federer who has been dominant on serve in this year's championship and acclerated away to victory when the lid was pulled over the 2012 final against Andy Murray.

The Centre Court coverers have just done their thing, dragging the taurpaulin across to keep the main stage dry.

Poor old Boris Becker has been hobbling around Wimbledon all fortnight because of his hip and knee problems so it is a big surprise to see the two-time champion wince and hoist one of his creaking legs on to the top of the net for a stretch.

For a moment or two it appears Djoko's coach might need assistance in getting said limb down, but he is obviously a bit more spritely than he looks.
