What a day.

Just to recap, Manchester United have sacked Louis van Gaal, with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho set to be named as his replacement.

All we are missing is the official confirmation from the club, which was expected today.

Not only is Heather Watson through to the next round of the French Open, but the Brit has done  enough to secure qualification for the Rio Olympics this summer.

Watson will now face 13th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia in the next round in Paris.

New manager Brendan Rodgers reveals he has followed Celtic since he first watched a friendly in 1984 when he was 11 and believes his side can improve on their recent European performances.

"You look at Porto, Benfica those sorts of teams do well in their own league and go on and make a good fist of it in Europe," says Rodgers.

"I understand the values and expectations here. It is not just winning. Celtic has been brought up to win with a certain style. We have players with great attitudes and I can't wait to get working with the players."

Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Goetze, linked with a big money move to Liverpool, has insisted he will not play for any other club next season and is committed to reaching full fitness in preparation for Carlo Ancelotti's arrival as manager. 

"I look forward to the new season in Munich and will do everything possible to be in top shape for my first training session under Carlo Ancelotti," Goetze, who joined Bayern in 2013 from rivals Dortmund, told German newspaper Bild.
