    A teacher who has led his school football team to national finals at Leicester's King Power Stadium and Wembley says staff and parents have been filled with a "huge amount of pride".

    Greg Williamson, from Britannia Primary School in Ipswich, said: "It's been a truly outstanding year. They've won the league, the six-a-side competition, the cup and the county finals.

    "These nine fantastic young people have filled all the staff and parents at Britannia with a huge amount of pride."

    As well as the prestige and experience, if the boys are successful there's even a chance of an open-top bus tour on their return.

  5. Travel: Train delays between Norwich and London continue

    Delays on Abellio Greater Anglia trains between Liverpool Street and Norwich are continuing into the evening. 

    A signal failure at Stowmarket which began at lunchtime caused delays of an hour to services but the company says this has moderated to delays of up to 30 minutes.

    On Sunday, Britannia Primary School's football team will be playing on Leicester City's pitch, having beaten competition from the region to claim their place in the national finals of the Danone Nations Cup.

    Then six days later they head to Wembley, as in the actual stadium, to play in the Football League Kids Cup ahead of the Championship play-off final. Wow.

  7. Thieves take two on the bounce

    If it's your party, you can cry if you want to...

    ...because two bouncy castles have been stolen in Old Newton.

    Police are appealing for witnesses after the deflated large yellow castles and their pumps were left out to dry in a garden on Falconer Avenue.

    They were taken at some point between 5 and 6 May, police said.

  8. John Wark: 'Ipswich UEFA Cup side was up there with the very best'

    Ipswich Town legend John Wark enjoyed success in the league and European Cup with Liverpool, but believes the Blues' 1981 UEFA Cup-winning side was just as good.

    It is 35 years to the day since the triumph, and Wark set a competition record when he scored 14 goals during the campaign - including one in each leg of the final against AZ Alkmaar.

    Let's hear from Mick Mills, 35 years to the day that Ipswich Town won the UEFA Cup - their only European triumph to date.

    At the time, the two-legged victory over AZ Alkmaar came as a relief to the captain, as Town had narrowly missed out on both the league title and FA Cup in the same season.

    "We needed something," Mills said. "If we hadn't have won that final people would not have remembered that season at all."

  10. Council's heartfelt on-air apology over twins school gaffe

    Suffolk County Council has given a heartfelt apology to a mum whose twins - one of whom has cerebral palsy - were going to be placed in different primary schools this September.

    Hayley Duffety from Great Barton was worried about the effect of the separation, but now her twins Holly and Elliot are being kept together. 

    Gordon Jones, Suffolk county councillor for education, told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We're all human, we make mistakes.

    "But I think the issue is how you react to those mistakes. We have reacted to it, we have addressed the issues, and I think we've got the outcome that I think everybody wants - especially the family."

  13. Prince William at controls of East Anglian Air Ambulance

    Here's the moment the East Anglian Air Ambulance arrived on a school field in Suffolk yesterday, piloted by the Duke of Cambridge.

    Prince William arrived at Kingsfleet Primary School at about 15:00 with a team of medics to treat a woman who hurt her leg nearby.

    She was later taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. Her injuries were not life-threatening, the air ambulance said.

  14. Thumbs up to 'impeccably behaved' children as Prince William lands on school field to assist patient

    Sports Day at Kingsfleet Primary School in Felixstowe came to an abrupt end yesterday when the air ambulance landed on the school field - and the future King stepped off.

    The Duke of Cambridge piloted the helicopter onto the field to assist a woman nearby who had injured her leg.

    She was then taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.

    The school said pupils were gathered waiting for the Sports Day results when the ambulance landed.

    "All the children were impeccably behaved and very sensible, we are very proud of them," a statement on the school's website said.

  15. Former inmates at Highpoint Prison

    Following news this morning of two hostage-takings at Highpoint Prison during the past month, here's some well-known inmates who have served time at the site.

    It was once home to Moors murderer Myra Hindley, who served 36 years in jail for her part in two killings. 

    Hindley spent the last few years of her sentence at Highpoint, from 1998 until her death in 2002.

    George Michael

    Popstar George Michael also served some of his eight-week sentence at Highpoint Prison after crashing his Range Rover while under the influence of cannabis.

    He was found slumped at the wheel after it smashed into a branch of Snappy Snaps photo store in Hampstead, north London, in July 2010.

  16. Landlords told to improve living standards

    Housing inspectors have found rat holes, overcrowding, no heating and a lack of smoke alarms in rental properties in the Newmarket area.

    Landlords have been required to carry out improvements after what Forest Heath District Council's deputy leader Robin Millar called a "real eye opener''. He said living conditions inside some properties were "simply not up to scratch".

    "Who knows, the action taken may have prevented a tragedy," he said.
