A woman whose body was found after a house fire in Selby earlier this week has been officially named by police as 45-year-old Jo-Anne Campbell.

The body of Ms Campbell, a mother of four, was discovered after fire crews were called to an address on Moat Way, Brayton, at about 01:00 on Monday morning.

No other people are thought to have been in the house at the time of the blaze, and Ms Campbell's death is currently being treated as unexplained, say police.

An inquest into Ms Campbell's death is expected to open shortly.

Anyone with information about the fire is being urged to contact police, especially anyone who saw anything near the address between 23:00 on Sunday and 02:00 on Monday.

Harrogate Town have signed Albanian midfielder Andi Thanoj from Alfreton.

The 23-year-old initially came through the system at Grimsby Town. 

In a statement on the club's website, Town manager Simon Weaver says: "He's got a lot of ability and a fantastic range of passing, while at the same he's got athleticism and can dig in. 

"He's got a great appetite for training and that was central to his thoughts for wanting to join us."

Earlier I told you about a meeting being held to decide whether to approve funds to repair parts of York's ancient city wall.

A short time ago, £350,000 was approved to spend on the work.

The money means work can start on urgent work to three sections of the historic walls including Micklegate Bar and Monk Bar steps.

We've just found out there'll be no Red Arrows at this year's Whitby Regatta.

The organisers behind the event, which is on from 20 to 22 August, say the RAF display team have had to be cancelled in the wake of last year's Shoreham Air Show crash.

The regatta's organisers are blaming the cost of new safety training and planning, but say they hope to bring the Arrows back in the "not-too-distant future".

Following this morning's "controlled" landing by a hot air balloon in Acomb, York, earlier, Virgin Balloons have been in touch to tell us more about what happened.

This was a "perfectly normal landing following a lovely flight over York", says Maria Wilkinson.

The company's balloons are a regular sight over York and "due to their huge size, they can cause a lot of excitement, especially when they are flying low and coming in to land," she adds.

"This morning's flight took off at about 07:45 from York Racecourse and landed at about 08:30 in the former school field at Acomb, with our very experienced pilot in full control of the balloon at all times."

Northallerton rider Nicola Wilson is hoping to catch the eye of the British selectors at the Bramham Horse Trials. 

She has three horses entered in the event which starts today, with three from her stables having achieved the Olympic qualifying standard.

British Rowing are due to name their team later today for the Olympics, with Hebden's Andrew Triggs-Hodge and former City of York rower Tom Ransley both expected to be in the squad.

They were included in the Men's 8 for the World Cup event in Lucerne last month. 

Triggs-Hodge won gold in London in the Men's 4 four years ago, while Ransley picked up a bronze with the Men's 8.  

Passengers in a hot air balloon walked away unharmed after a balloon made what police are describing as a "controlled landing" in York this morning.

The balloon came down in a field in Acomb, close to Dijon Avenue, at about 08:24. 

Virgin Balloons have issued a statement in which they say the landing was "perfectly normal".

Sue Hunter, a City of York councillor, said she'd just gone outside to do the recycling when she spotted the balloon.

Drivers in North Yorkshire are being warned about a couple of areas currently being affected by delays.

First of all, the B1261 Seamer Road in Ayton is partially blocked and there's queuing traffic in both directions between the A170 Racecourse Road junction and the Irton Moor Lane junction because of a shed load.

Meanwhile, Vernon Road in Scarborough remains closed in both directions between The Crescent junction and the Ramshill Road junction due to emergency repairs and bridge damage.  

More now on the hot air balloon which made what police describe as a "controlled" landing in a field in York earlier this morning.

Sue says she was getting her daughter ready for school when she opened the door and saw the balloon in the field.

She went to the field to check everyone was OK and was relieved to find out they were.

York's ancient walls are due to get some much-needed repairs, with the go-ahead expected to be given later to a £300,000 overhaul.

Councillors are due to give the go-ahead to the work, meaning urgent repairs to three sections of the historic walls: Micklegate Bar roof, (pictured right) Monk Bar steps (pictured left), and Tower 32.

A hot air balloon has made what police describe as a "controlled" landing in a field in a York suburb this morning.

The balloon came down in a field in Acomb, close to Dijon Avenue, at about 08:24.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue assisted officers in gaining access to the field.

No-one was injured during the landing and nothing was hit, according to police.

A man who must give police 24 hours' notice before he has sex after he was cleared of raping a woman has said it "puts an end to your life".

The man, in his 40s, was acquitted last year at a retrial.

He accused North Yorkshire Police, which declined to comment, of "sour grapes" in applying for a Sexual Risk Order after the case.

The order requires him to disclose any planned sexual activity to the police or face up to five years in prison.  

Speaking after an adjourned hearing at York Magistrates' Court, he said the order had devastated his personal life and "contravened his human rights".

If you're in the Ayton area your journey might be delayed a little.
